Today I have the ladies from Sweet and Sour Showers showcasing their Pinspired Christmas goodies! You may recognize them from their first guest post on my blog here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Chronicles followers! We are so excited to be guest posting for a second time for Ruthie, especially because she asked us to write about one of our favorite topics: PINTEREST.
Ruthie tried to explain Pinterest to us earlier this year, and to be honest, we just didn't get it at first. It took a while for us to really dig around in there to realize the goldmine we had just discovered. Pinterest is an amazing place for discovering new fashions, travel ideas, craft tutorials and recipes and then saving them on virtual pinboards. (You can follow Jac's pins here, and Leah's pins here, and trust us, it's way more of a time suck than Facebook.)
But beyond just saving ideas for the future, we really love actually using them! We recently started an album on our Facebook page to highlight all of our "Pinspired" creations (be sure to like us while you're there!), and we wanted to share some of our most recent holiday crafts and recipes here today.
Christmas Crafts
1. Ornament wreaths have been really popular on Pinterest this year, and Jac finally took it on. The hardest part of this craft was shaping a hanger into a circle, but otherwise all you have to do is slide the ornaments into place. Word to the wise - you really need to glue the ornaments to their hooks or they will be falling all over the place!
2. Ruthie was a huge help in organizing Leah's husband's surprise party this month, and one of the fun ideas we incorporated were these photo props. We cut out basic holiday shapes (and mustaches, of course) from cardstock and glued them to skewers. This made for hilarious pictures and a really fun reveal for the birthday boy (in the garage, if you're wondering what's up with the paint.)
3. Ruthie took on some "Boo" letters for Halloween, but why not make it work for Christmas too? Hobby Lobby sells these fun letters and decals that can just be glued right on.
4. Much like the ornament wreaths, these ornament trees were popping up all over Pinterest. We didn't find a great tutorial on these, but you basically just remove the ornament hooks and start gluing ornaments around styrofoam trees starting at the base. It's probably also a good idea to spray paint the styrofoam first so the white doesn't show through. You'll want to buy a lot of ornaments, and be sure to get some smaller ones to fill in the gaps. Leah even put those hooks to use by gluing them into the tiniest holes on the tree.
Christmas Treats
1. These are pretty much the most hilarious gingerbread men we've ever seen. We cut off random body parts before baking and then made funny faces (and bloody stumps) with some royal icing. The best part about these cookies is if you break them by accident, people will still think it's on purpose!
2. Wow your family by adding some oomph to your dessert table with this braided pie crust.
3. If you follow our blog, you know that we LOVE decorating cookies, and we've found tons of inspiration from Pinterest. These reindeer - which are actually made using upside down gingerbread men - were some of our favorites. Check out our Christmas cookie post to see some of the other fun cookies we made this year!
So those are some of our favorite projects from this holiday season, but we have tons more in the works! Plus, we'd also love to see what everyone else is working on - don't be shy and upload some photos to our Facebook page. Be sure to also follow our blog to keep up with our party ideas and treats!
