Good morning and happy Friday friends! I have a little treat for you today. A special little lady, one of my sweet sorority sisters is here to talk to you about an organization dear to her heart. Be sure to check it out because you have a chance to win a small sponsorship ad on my blog for the month of July!
------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Amanda Overfield and I am now a senior at the greatest school in the world, Texas A&M!
I cannot thank Ruthie enough for allowing me to post on her blog. This is extremely special to me because I look up to her so much! Her faith, character, drive, and genuine heart are a light to the world. Not to mention she is not only a friend, but also family to me! Both Ruthie and her sister Tomi are in my sorority family and I have been blessed beyond measure by their friendship. I love both of you!
This summer, I was blessed to have the privilege of being the Donor and Community Relations Coordinator Intern at a Non-Profit agency in Dallas called Promise House. This internship is a testament of how God truly gives us our hearts desires and keeps his promises. It says in 2 Peter 1:4 “And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.” This scripture perfectly paints the picture of my summer. Desiring to go into the Non-Profit world and having a compassionate heart for youth, I prayed for an internship opportunity that would provide me with an experience where I could both learn and serve. God saw my heart’s deep desire and placed me in a Homeless youth shelter right in the heart of Dallas! Luck? Not a chance; I was called to be here.
A little bit about Promise House:
VISION
The vision of Promise House is that every teenager has a safe and nurturing place to call home.
MISSION
Promise House embraces homeless, runaway and at-risk teens, giving them individualized support, skills, encouragement and hope to live a better life.

As the Donor and Community Relations Coordinator, I am currently working on promoting one of the easiest fundraisers EVER! Lord Nut Levington, a Dallas-based nut & snack company, selected Promise House as its charity of the month! The company is graciously bestowing upon us a $500 check to kick off a Facebook challenge that makes Promise House the beneficiary of every “like” they receive. For every “like” received on Lord Nut Levington’s Facebook page in June, $1 will be donated to Promise House! This is SO easy and has the potential to make a huge difference in these teens lives. Ruthie has so kindly allowed me the chance to personally ask for your help! Please go “like” Lord Nut Levington’s Facebook page and spread the word: http://www.facebook.com/lordnutlevington. Every like makes a difference.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and participate. It is truly appreciated! Hope you have a blessed Day:) And a special thanks again to Ruthie; you are such a blessing in so many people's lives!

Sounds like an amazing ministry!
What an awesome way to fundraise! I liked :)
This is awesome. What a heart she has for ministry. Truly a blessing.
What a great ministry!
This is an amazing place with such an incredible mission. I am a social worker and I work with the homeless population of our community. I see a lot of teens who could use a place like this in our community. Teens need a place to go just as much as adults. If anything, teens need it more because in our county, it is against the law for us to shelter a teen alone in an adult shelter or overflow bed (hotel).
