Last month Jon and I were up in Chicago and baby Hart got showered with so many gifts from family! We got two gorgeous frames and I remember thinking, I hope it is a boy because this would be perfect nursery inspiration. And what do ya know?
The past couple of weeks we have been gathering ideas from Pinterest, researching baby products, ordering fabrics, and trying to decide on paint so we can get started on the nursery. We actually have all of his furniture already set up so now the fun part starts. We chose a crib early on and it went on sale with free shipping when we were only 13 weeks pregnant so we went ahead and bought it. We are using my old baby dresser in one corner of the room and a $35 thrift store dresser that I re did for storage and a changing table. My grandparents gifted us a beautiful wooden rocking chair and I don't envision us needing any more big pieces.
So enough talk, time for some pictures...

Antique rocking chair
We will be using the same basinett my niece Embry slept in and it will be in our room when he is first born. We're keeping it upstairs for now and it is serving as a home for his stuffed animals and lovies.
We are painting the room a very light gray, can't remember what it is called but hoping to have that done soon. Instead of buying pre-made blankets, curtains, etc., we ordered 2 different fabrics to use in the room and we are having items made.
The gray geometric fabric will be made into curtains, an ottoman, and a rocking chair pad. The whale watching sky fabric will be for the more "baby-ish" things... crib skirt, blanket/comforter for the crib, and changing table cover. We wanted him to be able to grow into the room and we could even use the room with the gray geometric for a baby girl someday.
Accents will be yellow and blue (the two inspiration frames pictured below). If you squint you can see a little glass whale sitting on top of the You Are My Sunshine frame. Back in September, I was visiting my sister before her daughter was born and we were thrifting in Dallas. I found that little guy, hand made out of clay, and just had to have him...no idea why...and now I know!
The two prints on the right will be for the gallery wall above his changing table, which I am slowly collecting things for. Both prints are from Livy Love Designs and I couldn't be more excited to hang them in our son's room!
I'd never purchased/received a print from a designer so I was curious as to how they would turn out. I've always taken advantage of free printables found on Pinterest but after getting a "real" one from LivyLove, not sure if I can go back. The quality is phenomenal, you'd never know she prints them from her own home! Not only are her prints high quality, they are some of the cutest I've seen around. Diana of LivyLove, hand designs each print and is constantly adding new ones to her shop. It was incredibly hard for me to choose, I think I could have basically had a whole wall of LivyLove prints!
I am so glad we are getting a head start on his nursery since I am full of energy right now and it's not blazing hot outside. It's only a matter of months (probably weeks) until we hit the 100 degree weather which, let's face it, causes us all to be a little unproductive. I can't wait to see his nursery all put together and am looking forward to sharing the progress with you guys along the way.
