Cartwheel by Target

It's not a secret that Target is heaven on earth for pretty much any female with a pulse. (Target was Ford's first non-doctor appointment outing!). Actually, I remember dragging my husband to Target with me last year for something random and I encouraged him to checkout the men's clothes. We ended up leaving with 3 pairs of shorts and a couple of shirts! That next Christmas I basically got an entire new wardrobe from Target. He was hooked too.

Now something else that most human beings have in common is an attraction to saving money. As a one income family, I feel that it is my job to make sure we are stretching our dollars as far as possible. This means buying our clothing on sale, thumbing through grocery store circulars, and using coupons whenever possible. Enter the Cartwheel app.

I had seen people post on Facebook about Cartwheel and I saw the little Target emblem and thinking back... what the heck took me so long to see what it was all about?! Cartwheel is a Smartphone app powered by Target that offers over 700 coupons to be used in store. Cha-ching! Grouped by category, the app makes it easy for you to find instant savings coupons for everything from milk to swim suits to basketballs. The savings range anywhere from 5% off to 40% off! And the Cartwheel app can be used in conjunction with manufacturers' coupons or Target weekly ad savings! I am also a Target REDcard holder and already save 5% by using that, so I save at least 10% when using the Cartwheel app.

Here are a few ways I've really maximized my savings using the Cartwheel app:
  • At Christmastime Jon and I sponsor children with different organizations through our church and last year we took their wishlists to Target. We were able to use the Cartwheel app on baby dolls/accessories, board games, and sports equipment allowing us to stretch our dollar and give more.
  • My postpartum body is definitely different than before having a baby so I rewarded myself with a few new swimsuits. Cartwheel was offering 20% off of Mossimo swimsuits that week plus my 5% off with my REDcard and I saved about $10-$12 per suit! That is a cover-up or summery tank top right there.
  • Groceries. Normally I wouldn't buy my groceries at Target because I rarely go with the intention of coming straight home to put cold stuff away but now that the Cartwheel app offers 5% off eggs, milk, and other staple items in our household, I make sure to stop by on my way home.
Here's a screenshot of my current Cartwheel. Milk and baby wipes... household staples. Mamas are especially going to want to download this app immediately. Diapers, wipes, baby food, formula. It's all on Cartwheel!
Downloading the app is a piece of cake. It is available in both the iPhone and Android app stores and, to make it even easier, you can create an account with your Facebook profile. You use the app by browsing through the collections of offers and adding items to your Cartwheel list. You start out with the ability to add 10 offers to your list at once and you "unlock" more spots the more you use the app. Instead of having to scan a bunch of different coupons, the app gives you a single scan barcode for all the offers on your list. Simply hand your phone to the cashier for a quick scan and then watch your total drop! The ease and simplicity is what I love most about the app. No having to clip coupons, or filter through them while trying to push a cart and entertain my baby. It couldn't be easier. The Cartwheel app can only be used on in-store purchases which is good because I tend to go crazy with online shopping (free shipping with the Target REDcard... you'll thank me later!)

We are a one income family as well, so I try to save money as much as possible. One way I do, is making sure we don't have extra runs to the store. The closet store is 20 minutes away, so costs add up! When we go grocery shopping once a week, I make sure to stock up!

I'm pretty sure I can't enter this contest because I work for the Target Racing Teams, but I just wanted to say that I LOVE the cartwheel app! My boyfriend and I have started buying all our produce at Target since it's always on sale and has a cartwheel deal.

I use the Cartwheel App, clip online coupons, newspaper coupons and watch the store circulars. I also have many store cards (like CVS) to earn rebates as well. I think the most I've ever saved at Target with just coupons was $125 back in my pocket-woot! Thanks for the chance to win!

Our family saves by trying to meal plan, set-up our errands so that when we run into town we can do as many trips as time and kids allow. :-) I stopped clipping coupons because it was just pain so this sounds awesome!

My boyfriend and I save money any way we can. Lately we have been meal planning every weekend and then going to the stores on Sunday to pick up all we need for the week. **Bonus - no one is in the stores in the early evening on Sunday..yayy!*

We also use a lot of coupons on food items that we need and since I work for a cell phone company, I use a lot of coupon apps including Target Cartwheel for everything I need during my shopping trips.

Have a great day! kayneve@gmail.com

Apps are such a wonderful, convenient way to save money!

Sarah said...

I LOVE the cartwheel app! But I do have to make sure I don't just add stuff I like because I have a coupon! ;)

I plan meals and grocery shop every 2 weeks. We live 30 minutes from the closets grocery store so when you factor in gas and time, it all adds up. I use coupons and our grocery store does double coupon day every day.

I pack my lunch for work and have skipped eating out which saves a LOT of money. I also drive 30 minutes to work so carpooling has helped too.

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! :)

We save money by making lists and sticking to them! I've found going to the store list-less is highly dangerous. We also pack lunches for work instead of eating out.

I also don't go shopping to save money, so this would be a much needed and appreciated surprise!

I LOVE Target! I need this app!! Why have I never heard of it before?

The best way I have found to save money is to....leave my debit card at home. Or to just stay home myself. I religiously shop clearances. My girls know my mantra: Not 'Clearance' enough for me. I also shop around for the best possible price. I want to buy quality so I'm not rebuying in a few months. I might spend more initially but in the long run, I save. Right now I'm researching the best pre-paid cell phone plans. I'm finding I can save $50 a month going that way. (and sticking with my same carrier! Crazy ridiculous!)

Gmail! It seems like everytime I check out in a store they ask for my email address. With the new sorting feature in gmail it filters my promotions to a separate box than my personal emails and I love it! No more clogged inbox and I can go through my promotions when I get the time. I've saved a ton by checking out the big sales they send me that I would never know about otherwise. I highly recommend the upgrade on gmail and you no longer have to dread giving out your email address! I'm also very big into menu planning!

I love the Cartwheel app so much! Thomas and I do all of our shopping at Target. Usually once we're done grocery shopping, I'll stop in an aisle and go through my cart to check and make sure I've gotten the most coupons I can.

We also try to save money by using coupons that Target prints out at the register (handy how they're for things you've historically purchased) and clipping coupons out of the periodicals we get in the mail.

I save money by using coupons, and cooking meals ahead so that we're less likely to go out.

I love the Target Cartwheel App! It helps us save money on essentials, like cleaning products, clothes, and my favorite, Up&Up Baby Wipes! That is one that I am always reloading to my app!

I save money by stocking up on sale items and using coupons. Lately, I have been trying not to buy more fresh meat & produce than we can eat in a day or two because I forget about it and it goes bad. sonyadmorris@gmail.com
