Last Friday night, Ryan Cruz Saldana was tragically taken home to be with Jesus. He innocently ran into the street after a frisbee and was hit by a truck while his entire family witnessed. I just can't wrap my head around this horrific incident and can't imagine what his mama Jacqui (@babyboybakery) must be feeling. Each time I've put Ford down to sleep since hearing the news, I haven't wanted to let go. I've cried tears and sobbed prayers of hope for this family. I feel so selfish for saying this but I want Ford on earth with me forever, I can't bear the thought of my life without him. Ryan's red curls are lighting up the gates of heaven right now, I know it.

One of the many things I love about the blogging community is the support that it offers in times of sorrow and times of triumph. Y'all... friendships made over the internet are real and I am proud to call this space my home. Watching people rally for Ryan and support their family via Instagram, blogs, and Twitter has been incredible. The Saldana family is going to need our support today, tomorrow, and for many years to come as they mourn the loss of their sweet, sweet boy. Just like Job fervently prayed and cried out, we know that The Lord gives and takes away.

What you can do to help:
  • Pray for healing, peace, comfort, understanding and that God walks them through this time. "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." -Matthew 5:8
  • Support them financially by donating on the Thrive Moms Blog.
  • Share a picture of this sweet boy with the hashtag #redballoonsforryan. Almost 17,000 pictures already!
  • Purchase clothing and items from the following shops where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Saldana family

Please let me know if I missed any other shops, companies, ways to support the Saldana family

In Him,

I've been reading about this on a few blogs. It breaks my heart! I tear up everytime I see pictures of that sweet boy. I don't have a child yet, but I can only imagine the pain of losing one. Prayers are certainly going out to their family. Thanks for letting us know how else we can support!

I saw the picture on your Instagram and it made me so sad. I can't even imagine what the family is going through. My God son passed away from an accident like this at a year and a half and it was such a hard thing to cope with. The family will be in my prayers. said...

I saw the picture but didn't know the story. How tragic!!! Being anew mom I can not imagine how Ryan's family feels right now. I'll keep them in my thoughts and prayers.
