Bump it {a hair update}

Today I am here to give you my twice yearly hair update. After getting a fabulous, short 'do back in February, I told myself I was going to get my haircut more often. I feel sexier and healthier with freshly cut hair and as a mom....the 1-2 hours away is a vacation. Well somehow 8 months passed and my hair had not been touched...until yesterday. The sweet and oh-so-talented Layla, who cut my hair last time, has started a at a new salon closer to my house and I could hardly wait for a little hair makeover.

So I give you the before....

I know I should be embarrassed to show you how little effort I put into my hair but hey, this is what I look like every day. Actually, this was an extra special day because I wore actual clothes, not just workout clothes (that I don't workout in, they are just more comfortable). My hair is thin, fine, and stick straight so it is very easy up keep. I shower at night, let it air dry, and brush it in the mornings. Rarely do I use a straightener to even out the kinks, I normally give myself about 3 minutes to get ready in the mornings before duty Ford calls.

So for you Austin ladies (and men!), Layla Harris is a top notch hair dresser and stylist who is an absolute doll and fun to be around. She now rents an adorable space at Maison de Beaute right off of Anderson Mill and 620. Not only does she know her way around a salon but she has refinished a few French Provincial pieces in her space with chalk paint...instant connection!

Because I am so low maintenance with my hair, I didn't come in with ideas. I know my thin little hair won't ever look like Jennifer Aniston's, no matter whose hands are working on me. I gave Layla an idea of what I was looking for (basic, 2-3 inches off and long layers) and I trusted her expertise. I am so glad I go to someone that has the knowledge and experience to make the perfect cut for my fine hair. We chatted about chalk paint, sassy babies, husbands, and sad crying over TV shows, I told her I felt like I was at a girls lunch and didn't want to leave. Now that is a good haircut.

Before I knew it my hair had been transformed and lifted, looking better than I could ever, ever, ever, EVER do on my own. Damn you work travel for taking my husband away on such a good hair day. I had to go show off my new 'do at Bed Bath and Beyond and Michael's since Jon was away (he got a lot of bathroom selfies yesterday).

I can't recommend Layla's service enough. You will leave feeling beautiful, fresh, and like you've chatted with an old friend for an hour. Visit Layla's website or call 512-743-8054 to book your appointment. I told her I WILL be coming back before Baby H2.0 is born!

Ruthie you look great! I love that hair style, I only wish I could pull it off. Plus her salon is totally adorable, I love the teal colored hardware on the white dresser.

Cute! I have the exact same hair texture (and pretty much the same length as your before picture). I'm constantly at a loss on my hair. I'll have to consider this cut!
