I love love

February is here (wow it is crazy to write that!) and it is one of my favorite months. Not only does Valentine's Day make everyone get all lovey dovey but Jon and I are about ready to celebrate our wedding anniversary THIS WEEK! I remember back in 2010 after we'd chosen our wedding venue (we got married and had our reception here), we had to wait for another bride to lock down her date before we could choose. It was either January 29th or February 5th. As anxious as I was to be married, the January date was a week sooner so that would have been exciting but I fell in love with the February date. Sounds cheesy but the word February just slides off your tongue, it's romantic. People are already feeling mushy and how fun would it be to celebrate each year of marriage when love is already in the air (and on every end cap of your grocery store). I love that we don't suffer from the post Christmas blues because we have February packed with celebrations to look forward to.

Since Valentine's Day is just 9 days after our wedding anniversary, we've always kept that celebration low key. No gifts, maybe a card, and a nice dinner cooked at home. Well now that kiddos are in the picture, holidays look a little different! I vowed to Jon I would never go over the top when celebrating holidays with our children but some of my favorite memories growing up were heart shaped breakfasts, treats from mom and dad on the morning of Valentine's Day, red and pink decorations throughout the month of February, and of course... class parties at school. Ford was just 6 months old last year on Valentine's Day and received a handful of cards, what a stud. Even though Lucy is still baking this year at Valentine's Day, I couldn't resist ordering her this mini backpack card holder from Personal Creations. I love the idea of writing special little Valentine's notes for our kids every year and putting them in their card backpacks every morning, just to remind them how much they are loved and that they should show that same love to their friends, family, and peers. Kids are little sponges and learn so early on from their parents actions and I want nothing more than my children to have my same love for loving others.

AHH! We have been trying to figure out whether or not to make a big deal out of Valentines. Having a February anniversary makes it hard to turn around and do big gifts again. These little card holders are the beesknees!! :)

So cute! And both your possible marriage dates are good ones - my son was born on jan 29th last year and my husband and I are celebrating our 6 year anni on february 5th! Such a happy day!

We got married on January 29 several years ago. There was nothing special about the date, it was available at the church & our bridal party had no conflicts. I so wish we'd waited for February! I don't know what we were thinking having our wedding in the same month as both of our birthdays. January is so jam packed with celebrations Valentines Day gets almost no attention in our house but I love all the cute pink stuff!
