Bringing her home

Lucy will be born in less than 8 weeks, gulp. How is it that my pregnancy with Ford just inched by so slowly and this time around I blinked and birth is right around the corner? I keep telling people who ask if I am ready that you kind of forget that a baby comes home with you after pregnancy is done. Most of my pregnancy I've felt that giving birth was SO far off and it hasn't been on my mind, until I hit 30 weeks. Projects are slowly getting done around the house and the nursery is coming together. Back in 1988 when I was born, my parents did not know my gender until I was born so my coming home outfit was gender neutral. I am so glad my mom saved it because 18 months ago we brought Ford home from the hospital in the very same outfit. I have it hanging on a hook in his room and although it is really worn and thin, I imagine him bringing his first child home from the hospital in the same outfit (okay I can't think about that or else I will get too emotional!). Originally I had thought that I wanted to bring Lucy home in the same outfit as a tradition but I changed my mind. As a second child it is inevitable that she will get lots of hand me downs from her brother but there are a few things I wanted to get Lucy that were here very own. I chose a beautiful set from the Natalie Collection by Baby Beau and Belle. It is absolutely precious with lace and stitched flowers, it really is a timeless outfit that I pray becomes a family heirloom for Lucy!

Right now, the plan is for my sister to stay with my the night before my surgery so Ford can wake up in his own bed. She will bring him that afternoon to meet his baby sister then take him back to Dallas with her for a few days so we can get adjusted to life with a newborn without the craziness of a toddler and get settled in at home. It's funny the thing that keeps me up at night worrying is not the sleep deprivation that comes along with a newborn but worrying about Ford not getting enough of my time or attention. I know I will be emotional and miss his smiley little face but this will give mama time to heal at home while he has a lot of fun with his aunt Cori and cousin Embry! My mom will stay with us again to help out with baby and around the house, I have a feeling we will never want her to leave! I keep telling Jon that I am going to take the month of May off. After I had Ford I immersed myself back into life pretty quickly which I partially regret because I know my body needed more time to heal so this time around I am going to be more cautious. I am used to hosting, going out and about everyday, and keeping a packed schedule for Ford but I am looking forward to saying "no" and relaxing at home with my babies and letting my body recover. As a first time mom I wanted to be a hero and it was hard for me to accept help and meals but that is DEFINITELY changed. Heck if the FedEx guy offered to watch Ford while I napped I would probably say yes (kind of joking, but we've gotten to know him through Jon's daily car part deliveries for the 49 truck). I was so focused on getting through those hard days with Ford that I didn't spend enough time soaking it all in. I can't wait to watch Ford become a big brother and see Jon with our daughter. I am SO looking forward to a few weeks of family time and hibernation before the chaos of the summer starts. I will be that frazzled mama with bags under her eyes at the pool chasing my toddler with a newborn strapped to my chest.

Oh and because I am so in love with Lucy's coming home outfit (which includes a precious jumpsuit, bonnet, headband, booties, and muslin blanket), I want to offer one lucky reader a $75 gift card to Baby Beau and Belle. They sell beautiful layettes, gowns, dresses, outfits, and accessories for boys and girls for all occasions- coming home, baptism, first birthday, flower girl. Goodluck!

All of the items on their site are so sweet, but I think I would choose the Emily set for our Vivian to come home in. Love it!

That outfit is so perfect...can't wait to see Lucy in it :)

There are so many adorable outfits. I would wait until after baby #2 is born to pick out an outfit for the baby's baptism. Since we don't know the gender, I definitely would want to wait.

I bought my son's baptism outfit from Baby Beau and Belle, they are a wonderful company with and even more wonderful staff. I was able to purchase some "slightly irregular" (COMPLETELY PERFECT) pieces from them through ebay, and they are just so so great to work with. Love their stuff. I'm looking forward to using them again.

I love Lucys coming home outfit, so precious.
If I had to choose one thing from their shop it would be really hard but I love their Clementine dress, I think Malley would look so cute in it this summer.
