35 weeks

We took these pictures last night and feel like I've dropped quite a bit...thoughts?

Thoughts: Saturday night I told Jon that this has been the hardest day for me thus far. I had a rough pregnancy from the start but have been feeling really good since the 2nd trimester and although I've been slowing down, I am getting really large and uncomfortable. I am not to the point where I couldn't do it one more day (this is such a blessing!), but man, it is getting hard to function. We've already talked about how baby #2 will NOT be born during the hottest month of the year haha.

Baby: chunky man measured 5lb 10oz last Friday which is the size of some babies at birth! Nurse said to give or take half a pound but it is so reassuring to know he is big and healthy! He is pretty much 100% developed but we want him to stay cooking a bit longer so his lungs have more time to develop and get stronger.

Weight: as of Friday (34w4d) I have gained 28lbs

Symptoms: lots of Braxton Hicks contractions and sharp pains in low pelvis because baby has dropped a bit. The past 2 days I've had intense rib pains... no fun. TMI but I want to remember for future pregnancies, I've had some loose stool which can be a sign of your body prepping for labor and some mild/moderate cramping.

Movement: He is big and squished inside my little body so I can feel him 100% of the time. Lots of sharp movements and  I think he is fist pumping down in my pelvis.

Cravings/aversions/eating: I caved on Sunday night and had a piece of the most delicious, decadent carrot cake that was basically staring me in the face at a 4th of July party. It was amazing! I am eating lots of fruit and cereal lately and as we packed snacks for the hospital, I slipped 2 Reese's PB eggs in my bag :)

Workouts: So/so. I went to the gym twice last week and went yesterday for light weights workouts. I really do feel awesome as I am doing them but the act of getting into my hot car and driving to the gym is a chore. I can't really use cardio machines but like walking on the indoor track even if it is at a snail's pace!

Sleep: tough this week. Rolling over and getting up to pee is nearly impossible. I am comfortable falling asleep with a pillow between my knees and one behind my back but I've also had to add support under my belly for support. Eye covers have been awesome though!

Clothes: some maternity pieces are getting pretty tight on my ever growing belly! I am getting sick of wearing the same outfits and it has been so hot lately. Anytime we are home you can find me in a pair of Jon's boxers and a tank top lifted up and exposing my belly (the belly is like a heater!). No stretch marks to date so I am still rocking a bikini at the pool.

Doctor appointment: we had a nurses visit on Friday (34w4d) and it went really well. The day before I was experiencing really intense Braxton Hicks contractions and pain in my low pelvis but unfortunately that is a part of late pregnancy. We spent almost an hour with our awesome nurse Kristin who did an ultrasound for fun (and growth). I am SO relieved that baby Hart is measuring exactly on time. He has always measured between 1-2 weeks ahead on ALL his measurements so he is finally slowing growth. He is already pretty big and was being so cute with his hands in front of his face. We got a glimpse of his big lips and chubby cheeks.. I can't wait to kiss on him! We start our weekly appointments with our doctor on Monday along with ultrasounds and cervical checks.

Proud daddy!

Big lips and cute nose
Classes: we took a 3 hour breastfeeding class last week and it was awesome! We both had read books and done research about BF but I feel like you absorb so much more information from an in person class. The lactation consultant was incredibly knowledgeable and I know Jon will be such a big help when we are BFing. I highly recommend the class to expecting parents!

Random: we are putting finishing touches on the nursery and lots of random little chores around the house. We watched The Happiest Baby on the Block this weekend and getting really excited for the next couple of weeks!

Prayers: we are praying for comfort and peace these next few weeks as we prepare for the birth. We are asking God to continue to strengthen our marriage to give us the tools to raise our son in Christ. My prayer is for a calm birth with minimal tearing so I can heal quickly and focus on my son. I plan on writing a post soon about ways you can help us pray for baby Hart's birth.

about your comment about having loose stool, that really is a good sign things are probably gonna happen sooner rather than later. I know everyone is different but from my experience I had loose stools at 34 weeks and not a week later my water broke and Caedmon was born 5lb 15oz :)

You are beautiful Ruthie! I know you don't want to hear this over and over again but there is no way you will make it to your due date! You will be in my prayers over the next several weeks for comfort through the rest of this pregnancy. I know how difficult it can be. And I know I've said this before, but you are my inspiration if I am ever blessed with another pregnancy. My first one was so hard and I was such a grump. You are so cheerful in your struggles and I admire that attitude. I fell very distant from my faith when it was tested with personal and physical suffering and I love how it is just growing yours instead. You are going to be an amazing mom!

You look great! Granted we are twins, but Baby Hart is already bigger than Danielle and I were at birth!

Isn't it so neat to have those comparisons to see how much he's grown? I love it. It definitely looks like he dropped and I bet you'll notice another significant drop in a few weeks!

Love seeing your comparison photos! You are all belly! I am so excited for you guys! You are so close to meeting your baby boy. You can never be prepared for what it's like to have a baby, but you two are as prepared as it gets! You are going to be such a great momma! Can't wait to see photos of the little guy :)

Oh man, pregnancy during summer is rough. Thankfully I haven't been full term in summer so I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that is! Isn't it funny tho when you get to the end and you think, how can I possibly get any bigger?? But oh ya, it's possible. And then with your second, third, etc you get even bigger!

And I bet you're looking forward to those cervical checks ;) MOST uncomfortable thing ever. The best decision I made with Eli was to not be checked at all. ever. I just listened to my body and worked with it as it told me what to do. That way I wasn't worried about how far along I was. I wasn't able to get discouraged if I wasn't as far as I wanted to be. Just something to think about?

You are SO cute! I love how you show every angle of your bump! I need to do that next time :) And oh those braxton hicks are no fun! Just rest as much as you can girl!

Also, I highly recommend find out about the breastfeeding support group at your hostpital or local hospitals around. I go almost every week and love getting advice from other moms. It's a great way to make new mom friends and I love that I can weigh Scarlett to make sure she is getting enough milk. I didn't go until she was 6 weeks, and I wish I would have went sooner.

You look amazing! It's so crazy that just when we think the body can't get any larger, the baby finds a little space. I LOVED cereal with my third and ate it just about every day for at least two meals because I was pregnant in the summer. So glad to hear that the BF class went well. We really enjoyed ours as well. So thankful it worked out for us, I will pray it works well for you. :)

Oh, look at that belly! You look awesome! I'm not due until September and don't know how I'll get through the hot summer so I share your feelings of planning the next babe away from the summer! hah! Hope the next few weeks go smoothly for you!
