Ford's First Day

Yesterday was a big day for the Hart family. Ford had his first day of Mother's Day Out Preschool! He will be going to a Christian school twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm. Knowing I would have another baby this fall, Jon and I decided last spring that it would be fun for Ford to get some 'big kid time' with other kiddos and I could get some one on one time with Lucy girl. I honestly don't feel guilty by the lack of one on one attention I have given Lucy because the only kiddo who gets spoiled with that is the first! Lucy gets so many added perks of being the second child that Ford never got (a built in playmate and a mama who isn't a nutcase....well most of the time). Tuesdays and Thursdays however, will allow me to do some things with her that I did with Ford (swim class, baby playdates, etc). Oh and running errands with one baby now seems like the easiest thing ever. So back to Ford's first day.... his teacher is an answered prayer. She is Peruvian and in their culture they are very affectionate and hands on, the perfect match for our tender hearted little Ford. She loves Jesus fiercely and is so committed to loving and shepherding these children (can we all just give preschool teachers a big high five....one 2 year old drives me nuts, I can't imagine having 8!). They call it Mother's Day Out Preschool because 2 year olds are...well 2 year olds and they are like herding cats at time, but they also follow a fun curriculum where they study a color, letter, and number each week, a character trait each month, etc. This week they are learning about school and September's trait is kindness. I really look forward to getting into a rhythm this fall and getting to be super intentional with the time I have at home with Ford. He already loves school and didn't want to leave yesterday. I know this will be such a blessing for him, me, and Lucy girl.

Now excuse me while I go mourn the loss of my baby... look at this BIG boy!

awe Ford. He is so precious!! I am a preschool teacher for the 2-3 years and I love it. It's so nice to see the many different personalities and how much fun they are. I love how no matter what kind of day you are having, they are there to make it that much better! Cant wait to see how much Ford grows this year while in School .
