Life has been full lately which is why you may have noticed I've been a little quiet on social media. A 3 day weekend, lots of relaxation, cold weather, and family in town have attributed to fullness. And today is no different...my company is going to volunteer at Austin Pet's Alive so I get to spend the day with sweet little furballs instead of in front of a computer for 9 hours :-)
More on this later but our cousin from Indianapolis and her family stayed with us Sunday-Wednesday and it was so wonderful!! It was so much fun to have little ones in the house (4.5 and 2...well behaved ones at that!) and Ernie was in heaven. Ernie is relentless and A loved throwing his ball...
As social as Jon and I are, we love hermit weekends. We love weekends where we decline invitations out and spend them just the two of us, catching up on sleep, tv, movies, house stuff, cuddles, etc. I used to feel bad if there was a weekend where we didn't go out and see friends but I am just as introverted as I am extroverted. I thrive on having "me time" and don't do well if I don't feel caught up with my husband and in my home. Anyone else feel the same?
I got a lot of funny comments on the picture on the left, mostly sexual funnies which I didn't even think of. I mean...we are married!! And men take off their shirts in public, he is allowed to take his off in his own home with his wife :-). I was just showcasing my back rubbing laziness, y'all! We watched Our Idiot Brother and Hangover II, we had seen both but they were on our movie channels.
Ernie also loves weekends where we are at home...means more ball time, walks, and playing. His perma frown (except when he is panting and looks like the Joker) cracks me up! And have you ever seen anything so white next to something so black?
I also love making Ernie do human things....he hates it but is a good sport. I was actually trying to make him balance on the yoga ball, like those elephants in the circus. Again, he frowned.
It's no secret Jon and I love praise music, not because it gives us a chance to worship our God in the car, etc. but the music is just really good. I think I've mentioned it before but Jon went to University Baptist Chuch in Waco, TX in college when David Crowder was the worship leader...how cool is that?! We saw DC over the summer and were excited to attend SpiritFest this past Sunday.
I feel so blessed that Jon and I can love each other through our faults, weaknesses, joys, and strengths because our humble God loved us first.
In other news, we are so excited to host family over Thanksgiving, namely Embry is staying with us! I got anxious and got down our Christmas decorations but won't let myself put any up....gotta give Thanksgiving it's time to shine (although the Saturday after Thanksgiving it is winter wonderland time)
Can't remember if I posted this pic of not but my firstborn chunkpot hamming it up...
I want to thank each of my readers for following along in our random/crazy journey of life. I'm thankful that the Lord has given me the opportunity to blog and connect with all of you!

Love your pictures! The three of you are so cute.
Such cute pictures, you two look like so much fun! And weekends in are personally my favorite :-)
A weekend alone with my other half is just what I need, and soon! If we don't get that time, things just become rigid and I kind of get down. People need rest and alone time! You're definitely not alone. It's just hard finding that time when there are so many chores that have to be done during the weekend. :(
Cute post! Pups and kids are the cutest :) I don't comment much, but follow here and on Twitter...you and Jon are a great inspiration for other couples! Thanks for sharing!
I never get tired of Ernie pictures...in case you were wondering. :)
Christian music fests are my favorite. Glad you guys had a nice time!
awe you are the best wifey!! & I know what you mean about decorating for Christmas.. I am ready.... lol I even have it all out on our table just waiting to be put up & finish some pinterest things!!
sounds like a great weekend though to relax. Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Happy Wednesday
I'm totally an introvert/extrovert. I'm also a huge homebody but I love to have people at my home! So exciting Embry gets to stay with you!!!
We moved last October and moved again this October, so I haven't decorated for Fall at ALL. I'm counting down until I can put up Christmas decorations next week :)
my husband NEVER wears a shirt at home haha, it's the first thing he removes when he comes in the door. In fact, I have to remind him to put one on when people come over haha (a mistake I learned when I discovered he welcomed my great aunt in the new house for a tour and did the whole tour shirtless...) . And your little man's little frown is the best thing ever.
Firstborn chunkpot! You kill me Ruthie!! India is my doodoo skullcap genevive girl..yes, that's her nickname. I have no idea why...
I'd love to see India on a ball like an elephant for some reason. It would make me smile ear-to-ear!
Have fun over Turkey day with little baby E over...get lots of cuddle time and enjoy the cute fuzzy baby head.
Cute post by the way! And I love your massage style...very creative...GOSH JON PUT A SHIRT ON ALREADY. ;-)
The foot backrub pic cracks me up!! :) So funny!
The Ernie circus ball pic also cracks me up. Totally something I would do to Cooper and Grace!!
Glad your life has been full in a good family/relaxing sort of way :)
I love the pics of Mr Chunk, my Seamus doesn't smile either and he has no tail to wag. The only way I can tell if he is happy is how he snorts (yes he has a specifically happy snort different from all the others hehe).
I am with you...I get anxious when I don't have quality hubby time and am home only to sleep. Glad you guys got some time to catch up on YOU. :)
I wish Ernie and my pup Brody were friends. He's sooo cute!
I love your comment about being introverted just as much as extroverted. I am the same way. I love being out but I savor the days in. I love being surround this time of year with fires, movies, good eats and quiet. It's like recovery period from spring and summers of go go go!
Sometimes the quiet nights at home are just what the doctor ordered! The hubby and I just had a night like that last night, and it was awesome to cuddle and catch up on our shows and relax :) That pic of Ernie on the exercise ball is adorable - my dogs are wayy too big they would pop the ball haha!
That middle picture of Ernie! Why SO serious?! Hehe, he just needs his little paw up to his face and he'd be The Thinker. :)
That's so cool Jon went to David Crowder's church, I love his music!
your dog might be the cutest, ever! I too thrive on "me" time. I have to have it. I would take a lazy weekend over a busy one any day. But, I do like to go out and be social.. just not all the time :)
there is nothing i love better than a weekend of lounging around, hanging out with my pups and husband it refreshes me too and starts my week off on a great note!
Ruthie, I am seriously so glad I have gotten to know through blog land. You are a true gem and you humble me with your posts. I wish there were more of YOUs in this world...it would be such a better place. And I can only imagine the comments you got from that back rubbing pic!! LOL! And it's nice to stay home and relax with the ones you love most on weekends...we did last weekend and it was the BEST!
I LOVE hermit weekends! The best.
