Thurs-giving

Last night Jon and I celebrated our 3rd Thurs-giving.

Yep Jon and I are known to make up our own holidays (we celebrated August-mas this year). Next week will mark our 3rd Thanksgiving together. 1 dating, 1 engaged, now we are married. Our 1st Thanksgiving we decided we wanted to celebrate on our own, thus Thurs-giving was born.

The 1st year we made turkey breasts (instead of a whole turkey) but then started buying a rotisserie chicken. We were laughing last night about how easy the meal was to make and how most people stress so much about making Thanksgiving dinner.

Our menu included: rotisserie chicken, boxed chicken stuffing (we like it way more than homemade), green bean casserole, homemade garlic Parmesan mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and Crescent rolls. I planned on making a pumpkin pie but kind of forgot.

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is green bean cass...French style green beans, cream of mushroom soup and fried onions...mmmmmmm.

The pilgrim is going for the No Shave November look (and so is Jon!)

Dinner was wonderful and we talked about the many things we are thankful for.

-Each other and our marriage
-God's love and mercy
-Ernie, he is the light of our lives and makes us so happy
-Our family who is so loving and FUN
-Our health (despite being sick for the past 12 days)
-Both having jobs, especially in such hard times
-Our friends, who are like family
-For me, blogging. I can't thank God enough for giving me the opportunity to do so
-Lots and lots more....

Ernie has recently become obsessed with human food. We went to a Frenchie meetup a couple of months ago and so many owners talked about how obsessed their Frenchies were with food and now we are seeing that with Ernie. The only "human" food Ernie gets is carrots, apples and occasionally peanut butter but he is such a little toot while we are in the kitchen. If there is food on the counter, he will sit and lift his head up to sniff what it is and lick the floors for crumbs. He was definitely jealous of our yummy dinner.

Do you and your spouse/family/friends have any quirky holiday traditions??

Omigosh. I love this idea! We have 8 parents between the 2 of us so holidays are always NUTS and I feel like we have no time with just each other. I may just be copying you....and that menu as well! YUM-O!

Love it!

Our family Thanksgiving tradition is camping at the beach. We've done it for 17 years now. Unfortunately, since Ben and I moved to Texas this year, we won't be able to join everyone in So Cal :(
I'm a little more than bummed about it. But we were invited to have dinner with some other friends who don't have family here so it should be fun.

I love green bean casserole! that stuff is delicious. we have it for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. :]

and I didn't think it was possible, but Ernie is EVEN CUTER with a pilgrim hat. it's just not fair to all of the other dogs in the world.

This isn't a "Thanksgiving Tradition," but a tradition none the less!
For the last 22 years, Matt & I have been firing up the BBQ Grill & cooking out on the first snow fall! Sammy got a kick out of this when she was younger and now she has carried it on with her hubby in MN.!
Continue cherishing your lives together!
