27

Today my parent's celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary. August 10th, 1985 they were married in Batavia, IL, where my mom grew up. My parents have an idyllic marriage, one that sets a great example for their 3 daughters and 3 sons (2 son in laws). My parents are just happy people who enjoy life and each others company. And they make a rock star parenting team :-)

(I think they look alike too. Research shows you choose a mate that looks like you and that statement is evident in many of the marriages I know)

I have been meaning to share the gift I gave my parent for our wedding for a while but never got around to it so what better day than today! Their anniversary!

If you're married or planning a wedding, you'll know that buying gifts for your parents is one of the hardest things to do. Actually buying gifts for your parents is hard in general. They buy what they want, when they want it haha. I didn't want to give anything cheesy- no mugs personalized with Mom or Dad...I am just not into it so I spent months thinking and thinking. My parents spent so much time, money, and effort throwing us the most beautiful wedding and I wanted their gift to be special. One day I was going through a closet and found their wedding album, in two pieces. And then it hit me. I discretely stole their wedding album, took out every singe picture, and scanned them to my computer. I recreated their wedding album, with MyPublisher, and printed both them and my grandparents a copy.

How adorable are they?? I love looking at these pictures, they look so young (not that you don't look young now mom and dad!). I love seeing my grandparents in these pictures too, knowing they were my parents age back then.

So if you are stuck and looking for a gift for your parents, it doesn't have to be for your wedding, it could be for their anniversary, Christmas or birthdays, this could be just it.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I am spending this afternoon on a house boat with my co workers and we have another boat party on Sunday. Cheers.

Huh. I've never heard the statistic about married couples tending to look alike. That's really interesting. I'll have to pay more attention, I guess. lol

That is a really sweet gift idea. 27 years seems so long! I'm not even 27. lol Congrats & happy anniversary to your parents!
