Fly away with me

Is what my hubby asked me to do a couple of weeks ago.

Okay no, he didn't sing me a Frank Sinatra song but he asked if he could plan us a trip and not tell me where we were going. And I said yes. He planned it. And we leave tomorrow!!! I have a few places in mind, just from our discussions on where we want to travel. And I know it's not beachy because we are going to Mexico in a few weeks. We are ready to get out of this heat y'all! This exact weekend last year, we took a trip to LA to get out of the heat (recap 1, 2, and 3).

You know those people who preach to travel before you have kids (and most likely those people have never left their state haha)? That's what we are doing. Traveling is something we love to do and have done since the early days of when we started dating. And we know how to do it cheap. We pretty much only fly where Southwest does (unless it's out of the country) and we either get dirt cheap flights or use points. In fact, Jon said pretty much our entire trip is free--- free tickets, free rental car, free hotel. Yes please. We also love using TravelZoo to score deals on package trips. Traveling will always be in our budget. We aren't extravagant spenders and are not big shoppers so it is something we cherish and will always do. Weekend getaways are what keep us sane and get us through the busy-ness of life. And we haven't been anywhere since our anniversary to San Francisco (recap 1 & 2) so we were itching to get away.

Jon is helping me pack tonight (and I think throwing me off) and I will be learning of our destination tomorrow morning at the airport. And Jon has compiled a list of outings, excursions and things to do so he said we can plan that on the plane. Can't wait to tell you where we are going!

Here are my guesses

Where do you think we're going?

I so hope (for your sake) it is Maine! We went to Boston then up the coast of Maine one summer, and it is by far the best trip I've ever been on! What an awesome hubby to surprise you. I hope you have a wonderful time and can't wait to find out where you go!!!!

I think you are going to Boston! Or Maine - which makes me crave lobster even though its 8:30 am. What do yall use for points? I am trying to figure out which credit card to get to rack up points for my honeymoon. Enjoy your trip!

Soooo so fun!!! Weekend getaways keep us sane too! Luckily for us we live 2-4 hours away from a LOT of fun places and those are nice too when we can't really fit plane tickets into a budget! Plus we have a "Before Baby" list at our house of trips and places to see!

Have SO MUCH FUN! I can't wait to see where you guys are goign! :)

Oh my goodness how stinking fun!! We are the same way...we just booked a trip to Dallas in a few weeks and going to NOLA in Oct. Gotta get those trips in before its too late! Our honeymoon was a surprise and I didn't find out until we were at the airport...quite possibly the best thing ever.

Have fun and travel safe!

You are so right! But dont stop after the kids. they are even more crucial then to make sure you stay connected. The husband and I have 2 kids and just got back from a work trip to the Virgin Islands where he tagged along. It keeps us sane and keeps life fun!! Enjoy!

Oh I would love to go to all of those! Portland and Seattle are easy flights for me. Do you have a desire to go there? I never was sure I did.

Boston and Maine.... oh my. You know, my husband and I want to drive down the eastern coast one day. Its on our list. Tied with a trip to Italy.

I can't wait to see where he takes you! Please report back ASAP!

What a fantastic idea and kudos to your husband for being so fun and creative! If he could bottle up some of that romantic creativity and send to SoCal, I'm sure my husband would appreciate the help lol. Have an amazing time on your mystery trip!

OMG how fun!!!! I've never been to any of those cities so I'd be thrilled to visit any. Weekend getaways are nice. My husband and I are having an overnight staycation at a hotel nearby tomorrow. It should be a fun time. It's aways nice to get out of the house. I hope you have the best time with Jon and enjoy your weekend! Can't wait to find out where y'all are going and what y'all do! Happy weekend. :)
