Creative questions

It's funny that when you are married to someone you like (and love obviously!), you really never run out of things to talk about. Our marriage is built on a strong friendship that started before we dated and I am so thankful that we have that foundation. Yes I know my husband, but I still learn new things about him all the time. We love playing the game Creative Questions, and it always sparks up great conversations. No it isn't a game you buy at Target or download on your iPhone,  it is 100% made up. One person asks a question and the other answers (then the question asker has to answer too). And you switch.

I try to think of things we've never discussed or haven't brought up in a while. Or fun things that will make us laugh. There are really no rules to the game but we play it often, like on our way home from Dallas last weekend.

Here are some of the ones we've used recently. I will answer some...and some I will keep to myself...

What is your favorite color to wear?

R-yellow
J- black...if you remember he is a metal head and owns about 50 black band tshirts

If you could talk to your dad, what would you say?
Jon's dad passed away 3 years ago before I had the chance to meet him...

If you had to change your name, what would it be?
R- Elizabeth
J- he couldn't think of one...I told him Will or Jordan

When do you want to start trying for babies?
:-)

What is 1 thing you are excited about this week?
R- family pictures this weekend
J- having a weekend at home and going to a wedding (I am excited about this too!)

What are a few things you want to accomplish before your birthday?
This question was for Jon since his 30th in is 6 months, pretty big milestone

If you could play a professional sport for a living, what would it be?
R- golf, even though Top Golf proved I sucked, it is a high paying, low impact sport with a long career span

If you had to change your last name to something having to do with the post office, what would it be? (this one was Jon's haha)
R- Postal or Express
J- Jonny Envelope

What is something you are praying about right now?
Lots of things. God is really revealing Himself to us right now, we are grateful for that.

What are 3 trips you want to go on in your life?

I can't remember exactly what each of us said but we both want to go to Europe, specifically Italy and Greece, before we have children.

We also like playing 20 questions. One person chooses a noun (person, place or thing) and the other has to ask yes or no questions to try to guess what it is. Jon laughs because I come up with the most random people and I always stump him! It is fun to pass the time.

Anything you'd like to know from me and Jon?

My friend plays a "Stupid Question Game" with pretty much everyone, especially at work (she works at UPS with a bunch of guys) and it is similar to this...so much fun!! :) Great creative questions :)

Too fun :) We do stuff like this a lot too... or we 'map our lives' and daydream together about places we want to go, things we want to see, theme parties we want to throw.... etc! Good way to pass the time and just spend time talking together.

Sidenote- ALL these pics are so cute. Love photobooths!

So fun! Jason and I are always asking each other random questions like this. We have a blast guessing what the other person will say.

I love this! Have no significant other right now, but I love to play something similar to this with my best friend. But most of all, I love those pictures! You two are so cute together.

My Jon and I have a game called "Loaded Questions"... It's a board game but we never play the board game. Instead we use the cards that have all sorts of random questions on it and ask each other them. They are things I would never think to ask but it's so interesting to hear his response to these things and learn more about him that we do it a ton. I think you can just buy replacement packs of cards, might be fun if you ever want a stock of extra random questions ;)

You forgot to post the question of "which shark would you rather get eaten by..." hahahaha

What a fun game! Robbie and I do this all the time too. And we LOVE playing 20 questions. I got "Michelle Obama" after two questions. :)

Questions for you two:
If you had to live in extreme hot or extreme cold weather, which would it be?

If you had to choose a hair color that wasn't "normal," what would it be? (ex. blue, green, yellow, etc.)

If you had to choose a wife-dog for Ernie, what would she look like?

HAHA! Have fun with those! <3

I want to know what assumptions did you have before marriage from eachother that you have been surprisingly wrong about?

love this game, my husband Josh and I play it often too. My favorite questions are always about his childhood, since I didn't really KNOW Josh until I was a senior in high school.

Great post! My husband and I are having a date night tonight and I'm going to suggest playing this :) I may even steal some of your questions if that's ok!

I love that you put the Lord first in your marriage. I don't know if this would be something you'd want to share, but I'd like to know what the best thing about marriage is to you both, and a little deeper, how God has helped you through your struggles. Obviously no one shares detailed struggles on their blog, so more of how you two get through struggles with God being the focus. Do you take space and reflect with God individually? Do you pray together? Do you turn to the Bible to reach a compromise? Or all of the above even!

I love this idea! Btw - you and Jon should be professional photo booth picture takers. I always look awkward b/c I can't think of any cool poses.

How fun! I was just seeing some similar ideas on Pinterest, and my husband and I have planned this as a part of a night for this weekend! Thanks for sharing some the questions you and your husband have talked about...great ones to add to my list :)

C and I did this when we were dating. Sometimes the questions got rediculous. I love that you still do it even though you are married. I might have to strike up a game!

Can you explain more on how/why you do 'the rose and thorn' of the day? I feel like lately we are going through a season where we have so much going on and we always seem to find ourselves talking about the 'thorns' wondering if this little ritual might help us look and learn to really appreciate the positives in our lives. :)

I have a question, How are you guys so awesome?! :) Z and I love playing this game, too!! We have a question bag, that we pull from, that has tons of questions we've made up, in it. We love to play this with friends and at parties, too!
If you could travel to any other planet, where would you go?
If you were required to do some crazy sky diving trick, what would you do?
( I.e. Play a saxophone, do the rubix cube, sit on a rocking horse all the way down, and so on. You've seen these stunts, right?)
If you could choose one super power, what would it be? :)

Love this! D and I used to play something similar but we haven't in a long time. Probably since we had kids ;) But you've reminded me to bring it back! Ha!

Have a great weekend Ruthie!
