It works.

Have you ever been skeptical of something working? Your 20 year old car? The shake weight? Or those commercials claiming you can make $5k in a week working part time at home? Well I can't guarantee any of those things to you today but I can tell you what works. Prayer. I have experienced it first hand and I pray that you have too.

Right now, things are crazy. This week has been like none other experienced. As a family we are experiencing some tough stuff but we are optimistic and we have each other. We have the Lord on our side too. I know I don't have the plead with you, asking for prayers, because as Christians, prayer should be an everyday conversation we have. So friends, please pray.

I can also tell you that a series of unfortunate events has struck those close to me. Some of it trivial, some of it life changing. You know those days that just suck? The days I was talking about in Wednesday's post about my optimism. Yeah I had one of those this week. Watching 16 ounces of water splash over my new $1,000 laptop. Our garage door breaking while Jon was traveling. 2 nails in my tire. My little brother slicing his throwing hand open and getting stitches. I can honestly tell you that as much as those things sucked, I was okay. I was okay because 1. there are way bigger things going on in my life right now and 2. things can be fixed and replaced (I learned this at 16 after my first car accident...cars can be fixed, people can't). I found solace in knowing there was a reason for these things occuring. Was God trying to tell me to slow down after spilling water on my laptop? By His grace alone, my laptop is back up and running. The IT department at my office swore it was fried and told me I needed to go buy a lottery ticket because I was so lucky. To me, that's not luck. That is God's work. His grace telling me to relax, slow down, be at peace. Now I have no ideas as to why our garage door broke but I better be learning a darn good lesson because being a homeowner is expensive!!!

Now I don't want you to worry because worrying solves nothing. I can't wait to share with you some of the things that will be happening in our lives.

Like putting this headband on my niece next week...

Jon and I will be spending time in Dallas this weekend and next week so forgive me for being out of the loop. I am looking forward to soaking in all these precious moments with our family, moments that make life so worth living.

....and because we all need a little Ernie in our lives, this is one of my favorite pictures of Mr. Chunk from when he was a puppy. He looks like he is praying/worshiping and that just makes my heart happy.

Hi Ruthie! I am SO sorry you have had such a hard week. Mine was actually pretty bad too! I was so sick when I got home from Africa that I missed an additional week of work and school, school almost kicked me out for missing more, I don't get paid when I don't work and then backed my car into a rock ($400 repair on top of my $250 ER bill after not getting paid for 2 1/2 weeks!) and on and on.
Here's to hoping things shift for us and that it all goes up from here!
xoxo

That picture of little Ernie is too freaking cute. Hang in there, my friend! I'm so glad that you see the magic of praying. I started the 60-60 without reading Burke's book and have already seen miracles in my life. LITERALLY miracles. Can't wait to read his book and full embrace the whole experience! <3 Also can't wait for you to meet your new baby niece!!!!

Find solace in God's grace while you away. Take time to unplug, and be with your family, 100%. You are such a strong woman, and a true blessing in your family's life. I am proud of you for remaining strong, and knowing that life throws us curve balls and we just have to do the best we can to field them sometimes. Remember, Let go and Let God. I am just a phone call away, sweet cousin. Love you!

They say when it rains it pours. But I think it's usually satan trying to discourage us. Thankfully we have the Comforter with us at all times. I pray He will give you and your family peace in this time. It will pass.

Love you friend. I know things will be better. I just know. I'm still praying for you and thinking about you and the fam daily. Lots of little bad things seem to always happen all at once. It does suck. But you're right, prayer works! I always try to think about bigger problems then trivial things that happen to me. It def gives me a better perspective.

Prayers are your way!--There was a post a while ago I'm sure that you mentioned a website or app that took bible verses and broke them down to help you understand what each verse meant...do you happen to remember what it was called, I've tried going back through your posts and can't seem to find it again....I think you may have mentioned it in one of your 'random' posts and that may be why I can't find it. Thanks :-) Enjoy your family and Aunt/Niece time..those are precious moments!

Sweet Ruthie, It's true prayer works. He listens. And He's awlays good. I'm sorry you've had such a tough week. I know the Lord receives your worship and praise to Him as you choose joy, in the midst of it all, and trusting Him. Thanks for reminding us to pray. And challenging me to choose joy and keep trusting through prayer.

Ruthie, I've been out of the loop for abit with no wifi at our new place but I will be praying for you and your family. :-) God really does answer prayers and even if it's not what we were hoping for, it was all for God's glory.
Out of the entire us, my hubby had to get a job offer from only 35 min away from his parents whom have expressed tension with me. Was I happy about being so close to them? No, but I guess God wants our relationship to be worked out lol
