Exacty what I wanted

My birthday was yesterday and I got exactly what I asked for...and a little more. I rested, yet we got so much done and although I wish I could add one more day to the weekend, I woke up this morning ready for the week. We spent a few days in Mexico with friends last week and then saw friends throughout the week so I wanted this weekend to ourselves. Sometimes I get so caught up with planning parties, dinners, and events that I forget how important a weekend with Jon is. I am pretty hard to surprise but Jon seems to get around that and definitely surprised me this weekend.

My first surprise was coming home from work Friday and being led into our bedroom to find this...

I've been wanting to make a headboard ever since we moved in and upgraded to a king-sized bed but it's been on the back burner. We recently had to replace our fence and Jon saved a few pieces and surprised me with this beautiful headboard. Seriously...I can't stop looking at it. He chose the perfect pieces, each slat has so much movement and shows wear and tear. And it cost less than $5 :-).

He also had these gorgeous flowers delivered on Saturday morning. I wish they were fake so I could keep them forever!

I needed new work out/tennis shoes so I bought some for myself last week (when you are "grown up" it's just easier to buy stuff when you need it rather than waiting to ask for it). I actually bought 2 pairs because they were so cheap...I only wear New Balance because they fit my wide feet and I found 2 pairs for $40 each at TJ Maxx. Score!

Some monogrammed gifts
My 2nd Jon Hart piece...I wish they weren't so darn expensive (I think I should get a discount, right?)

Saturday was spent all around town preparing for Halloween. No lie we were gone for 6 hours and hit almost every Halloween store and Goodwill in North Austin. We didn't decide on our costumes until late last night but we are excited! Our house is now filled with disgusting zombies, spider webs, and bloody limbs (that Ernie thinks are his toys). Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, Jon loves going all out and we are having a party in 2 weeks. Don't worry, we bought a fog machine, strobe light and tons of green and blacklights haha.

If you live in Austin, you have to go to Phil's Icehouse in Rosedale...it is my all time favorite burger. The food is kick butt but I also have great memories of eating there with Jon, early in our relationship.

We were sure to steer clear of downtown because of ACL...sorry we aren't cool and hipster enough to go, I just hate traffic and big, sweaty crowds :-). Sunday, my actual birthday, we spent the morning at church and had lunch with my parents and brother. We had the waiter guess how old I was turning and he guessed 19 haha. I guess I should be happy he didn't guess younger!

I told y'all I wanted to rest for my birthday and that's exactly what I did. Jon did some things around the house, we caught up on TV, talked to my sisters and grandparents, walked around the neighborhood, hung out with neighbors, and Jon made homemade Italian sauce and spaghetti squash. We ate by candlelight and Jon continued surprising me. This man's love runs so deep and I am so blessed to call him my husband. We spent some time writing down things we are praying about over the next year so that way we can see how God works these next 12 months of our lives. I can't wait for the rest of my life with Jon, I think this year is going to be awesome.

Jon took this on our walk last night and my sister commented that Ernie looks so happy. He does. Not that he ever looks mad but can't you see that smile. I started to tear up looking at this picture, my sweet chunky boy.

And what better way to end the night than 24 toothpicks lit inside a carton of froyo?

Yesterday I reflected on Jer. 1:5. The fact that He knew who I was since the beginning of creation and had a plan for me. He knew I would be 8lbs 1 oz yet grow up to be barely 5 feet tall. He knew that I would marry Jonathan in 2011 and through marriage, fall so deeply in love with Jesus that my heart almost bursts. I want to live this next year according to the scripture. A prophet of all nations, whether it be the nation of my blog, my work, my family, my church. This year is going to be BIG, I know it. Glory be to God.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart,  I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
