Soul Revolution

Last night was the first night of the new small group study I am leading. This is the 3rd study I have done in the past year and I couldn't be more excited to be leading. I had been praying for ways to impact others and I truly believe God has given me the voice, opportunity, and ability to do so. This is a great group of strong willed, Christian women that I cannot wait to walk with.

The book we are studying was the first book written by the lead pastor of our church (Gateway Community Church) called Soul Revolution. John Burke shares his story about how he came about a radical connection with the Lord.

In this book, we are challenged to spend time with God every 60 minutes for 60 days (the 60-60 experiment). The experiment isn't stopping to pray to God every hour or tell him what you need/what you are doing, the challenge is to break the habit of ignoring God. Isn't it crazy to think about how little time we spend with our beautiful maker? I know I spend more time thinking about work, my blog, my husband way more than I spend time with Jesus. It's sad but I continue to do it.

"Without faith it is impossible to please God" Hebrews 11:6

God defines success in terms of faith, not just professed belief in Him, but active, daily, risk-taking trust. Are you taking those daily risks? One thing I loved that John said in this book is that God couldn't care less about how messed up you are, how far you've fallen, or how "good" you've been. He wants to know "how willing are you right now- in this moment?"."

Is your heart open? Are your ears and eyes open to what the Lord has planned for you? Are you experience the great thrill and deep relationships that life with God provides?

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:1-5
He is there for us. He is ready and willing. He is waiting for you to make that commitment and in turn, He will make you fruitful. Last night we talked about a big misconception that both Christians and non-Christians hold about God and that is that He is harmful. He is mad when you do wrong and He in turn will wrong you. That couldn't be farther from the truth. The Lord rejoices in your successes and He experiences pain when you do. He is the ONE person who will not deny you, stab you in the back, two face you. He is the greatest of protectors, best of friend, you are safe with the Lord.

So today starts a huge journey for me. This past year I have given so much of my heart to God and received so much guidance and prosper in return but I want to give Him more.

"The Lord is my shepherd and I lack nothing" Psalm 23

That is a great topic and so very true. I definitely spend more time on everything else. I've been working at that more lately, but that 60-60 sounds pretty cool...I'll have to look into it.

It's great that you have a small group to learn and grow with. Does this come from your church or did you set it up on your own?
