Today I am guest posting over at A Blonde's Logic so be sure to visit :-)
If you missed part 1, be sure to yesterday's post recapping our first 2 days in LA.
If you missed part 1, be sure to yesterday's post recapping our first 2 days in LA.
Saturday we ate brunch at the famous Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (don't know what I am talking about? You obviously didn't watch Snoop Dawg's E! reality show where he dines with David Beckham at Roscoe's).
My mouth is watering thinking about the succulent fried chicken breast paired with a fluffy waffle soaked in maple syrup. Mmm Mmm. Jon ate a fried chicken omelet with a side of waffles. Oh and we saw Kevin Federline's first wife (did they ever marry?) Char Jackson chowin' down on some waffles.
We hit up the Hollywood Museum which was pretty cool but most of the stuff was before our time.
We both love I Love Lucy and there was an entire floor dedicated to Lucille Ball. Jon's favorite episode...
The actual clothes used in the Twilight: New Moon movie on the left and my Italian Stallion hubby on the right.
Much to my dismay, the basement was full of horror movie props and stage setups...Jon was ecstatic.
The actual stage from Hannibal
Hannibal's padded crazy cell
The Hollywood Museum is actually the former Max Factor makeup factory (ladies, you know what I am talking about). Max Factor was pretty much the first makeup artist in Hollywood. Pretty cool.
We did a walking tour of Hollywood Blvd. that was pretty lame but we got some cool information (we were so tired and hot).
Bing Crosby
That afternoon, we went to a classic car showroom on Santa Monica Blvd. that Jay Leno frequents, Jon was in heaven (esp since they had a fastback Shelby mustang...he was drooling)
I have a thing for old Rolls Royce...can't you see me driving this?
We drove through Beverly Hills with our Zillow apps open and did our own celebrity home tour.
Anyone recognize this house??
Yep that is Kim K's pad! Easily recognizable from Keeping Up With The Kardashians. So cool! Her wedding was in Montecito that evening so we knew we wouldn't get a glimpse of her.
We also drove by the Playboy Mansion and saw Hef's new girlfriend drive up. We heard her on the intercom say "Hey it's Shera!" and they buzzed her right in. It was very secluded and secure so we kept on driving. We actually found the back entrance of the house and talked to the young security guard sitting outside (I read on Twitter that Hef was hosting a benefit at the mansion that night). The guy was talking about all the crazy sh*t he sees...I am sure he is living every man's dream!
We window shopped on Rodeo Drive and had a nice dinner at the swanky Beverly Hills restaurant, Villa Blanca, owned by Lisa Vanderpump from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. If you've watched the show, the housewives frequent Villa Blanca very often but unfortunately, not Saturday night. The restaurant was decorated in all white with HUGE, beautiful flower arrangements. It was out of this world and so nice. Our waitress said that Lisa comes in 5 days a week and was probably at her other restaurant, Sur, that night.
Sunday was spent driving along the coast up to Malibu which was absolutely breathtaking. We actually forgot about the hustle and bustle of LA, it's like you are in another world. We spent some time at the beach, the water was super cold but we walked along the sand admiring the $20mil homes (what on earth do these people do for a living!?).
Since we experienced Santa Monica at night, we wanted to check it out during the day. We walked up and down Main Street and ate at Urth Cafe (which was given a 5 star rating on Urban Spoon). Santa Monica reminds me a lot of Austin...organic food, thrift shops and hipsters all around. We even went to a Farmer's Market where they sold fresh produce, flowers, trailer food and even had a petting zoo and live band. Reminded us of home.
Must buy orchids!
We headed straight to the airport for a 3:15p flight, little did we know we'd be spending the next 8 hours trying to get home! All in all it was a wonderful trip. Great food, beautiful sights and the best part...spending time with my husband!
Next up...Cleveland. We head to Ohio in about 5 weeks for a wedding and once again, I am looking forward to getting out of this horrible heat!
Stay tuned for ridiculous pictures of us at the wax museum later this week!

Ruthie! This looks INCREDIBLE! How awesome that you two got to spend quality-time in LA!! I am so jealous that you are in front of Kim K's house the DAY of her wedding! Did you hear she had a FLEET of white Rolls Royces @ the big event to usher the guests around? I think you would have fit in perfectly...and you look sexy next to that car!!
Looks like such a blast!! Sorry you couldn't meet Kim, I know you would be so pumped!! haha
I always wonder what ppl do for a living too when I see houses like that... & there's more than 1 house, too!! Meaning... there's actually multiple people who can afford that. hahah
It looks like y'all are having a blast! I just e-mailed my husband asking if we can take the same trip, I would love to visit famous restaurants, houses, etc and see California like what you see on TV. haha!
I was born and raised in Austin, I can't believe I just realized you live there! How exciting!
Looks like LA agreed with you! Great pictures! Thanks for stopping by!
I love that you did the Hollywood thing. We live just a couple hours away and have never done it. I always dream of hanging out on the beaches of Malibu surrounded by stars {and since it's a dream, they all become my BFF's}
Sound like you two had a fabulous time! Lovin' the play by plays ~ kind of feel like I went on Vay-Cay too :)
It looks like you had a fun trip!
I've been reading your blog for a few weeks, and I look forward to meeting you tonight at happy hour (I'm friend's with Lindsay).
Looks like sooo much fun! I miss LA!
One time, my hubby and I were on Mulholland Drive, checking out celebrity houses, and we stumbled upon the house that the Kardashian family lives in... the huge new one with the sprawling lawn and the statues outside. There was a for-sale sign outside and the paperwork said that it is a "staging" house for film sets like "KOWTK", "True Blood," etc... i.e., the Kardashians DON'T EVEN LIVE THERE and we are ALL FOOLED! HAAHHAHAHAHA! And it wasn't even in Calabasas. I feel so jipped, don't you?! The realtor said they just use it for TV so that no one knows where they "really live." I love your pics-- you're so cute! xo
I would love some Rosco's Chicken and Waffles. I have to admit that the food is usually my favorite part of a trip. Although that beach looks like a pretty close second.
Ahhhh, this makes me want to visit LA REALLY badly! If only the hubs was on board :) Looks like you guys had a great time!
I love that first dress you have on! Where did you get it?!
Alright, I'm super jealous! I've lived down here my whole life and never went to any of those places! I'm dieing to go to Villa Blanca and Urth Cafe! You should have invited me :-p
Thanks for guest posting too :)
