Livin' Life LA

We're back! I currently have bags the size of Texas under my eyes and running on minimal sleep. We flew direct from Austin to LAX last Thursday but had a plane change in El Paso coming home. Turns out El Nino is dumping in the East coast, causing our plane to delay not 1 hour but 3 HOURS in El Paso. All day yesterday we were looking at pictures of Mr. Ernie, so excited to pick him up from my parents house (yes we are those people) and of course this happens. We got home after 1am, did a few things around the house and I refused to look at the clock when my head hit the pillow, knowing my alarm was mere hours away. I am glad you all can't see my face!

Get me back to Austin!

Okay on to our trip! We took tons of pictures and I figured I could break it into a couple of posts. So why did we go to LA? Over the past 2 years, Jon and I have done lots of traveling and want to keep it up before we decide to add to our family. We had free airline tickets and chose a place we'd never been together. It was perfect.

Thursday night after we flew in and checked into our hotel, we headed to Marina del Rey and had the most amazing meal of our lives at C&O Trattoria. Thank you to Taylor for recommending this place on my previous post about LA, you are a GODDESS! This place is a must if you are in the area (or not). They brought these amazing little bread balls filled with garlic and basil. I think we each ate 10, no joke.

Jon feasted on a seafood dish with grilled calamari and salmon, so delish

We ate outside in a courtyard under an outdoor heater (God bless the weather!)

We headed up to Santa Monica and spent the evening exploring the cool shops, restaurants and of course, the famous pier (there was a live band and tons of people out and about). We even found a Yogurtland closeby :-)

Friday was a full day and I don't think we ever got used the 2 hour time change. We went to Madame Tussauds Interactive House of Wax (which will get it's own post because we took so many pictures!) then had lunch at Pink's Hotdogs. If you watch the Food Network or Discovery Channel, you would recognize the name. We waited an hour and it was worth it...

Yes we are pigs.

On the way to Pink's, we passed Kat von D's tattoo shop (from LA Ink on TLC) and snapped some pics, pretty cool.

That afternoon we explored Hollywood Blvd and went on a 2 hour, open air bus celebrity home tour. Yes go ahead and laugh at us but it was our favorite part of the trip. We had a GREAT tour guide who wiggled in some adult humor and not only did we see some celeb homes but went to a lookout to see the Hollywood sign and drove through Hollywood/Beverly Hills and got lots of history/cool information.

Anyone recognize this?? Fresh Prince...

I know this is just a picture of a gate but this is the house where MJ died, 100 North Carolwood in Beverly Hills. You don't believe me? Check out this video

Remember the show The Osbournes? Here is their old house that is now owned by Christina Aguilera.

We saw lots more but I don't want to bore you with pictures of houses (we were laughing at a woman on the tour who videoed the whole thing and did commentary on her camera). Will she ever watch it?

This is the closest you can get to the Hollywood sign. Can you spot it thru the smog?

Some other pictures from Friday...

Jon's favorite part....the cars. At first it was so cool to see Bentleys on the road but after a while, they became a bore. Bentleys in Beverly Hills are like trucks in Texas, NBD. It was the Lamborghinis, Rolls Royce and Ferraris that tickled our fancies.

Screaming for attention much?

Friday night we ate at the famous Mel's Diner and called it a night. Being a tourist is exhausting.

So after that novel of a post, I will save the rest for later this week! I am currently counting down the hours until I can race home to see this face...

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to California. It looks like you guys had a great time!

That's too funny that you should say something about the lady recording the whole tour - just a few weeks ago I was watching home videos with my family from vacations like 10+ years ago and my dad recorded everythingggg. To the point where we were all asking, "Why would you record this? Who would want to actually watch this?" haha!
