Memorial Day 2011

The first part of the weekend was spent at 2 of our very best friends' wedding but I am going to save those pics for a whole other post! Sunday morning Jon, Ernie and I headed to my parents lakehouse on Lake LBJ in the Texas hill country. Since we just honeymooned and have a few little trips this fall, we knew we weren't going to get a big vacation this summer so it's weekends like these that help me get through....stay-cations!

Heaven on earth!

Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures BUT my mom got a hysterical video of Ernie. Jon and I were up in the house sunscreening and saw Ernie hopping around the beach and everyone was screaming. Turns out he was chasing a frog, poor little guy, luckily no harm was done.

It is plain to see how stout little man is so you can understand my amazement when Ernie was a little fish in the water. My parents have a great setup at the lake (zero depth with a sandy beach) so he was inching himself in the water. We brought him a couple feet out and he swam back to shore! He totally looked like Yoda because he was positioning his ears as far away from the water as possible.

He was having trouble breathing (thanks to his piggy nose) and had a face full of sand so he got a good bath and ear cleaning. This guy was passed out....

We ate tons of good food (recipes to come) and had a blast on the wave runner. I am definitely not a thrill seeker and haven't been on the wave runners for probably 1-2 years but I was feeling adventurous. We got lots of sun and it was a great way to end such an awesome weekend!
