Today you can also find me guest postin' over at My Unrehearsed Life, check it out!
Sunday night we bundled up and took Mr. Ernie to see Santa at Zilker Park in downtown Austin. If you are an Austinite, you know what I am talking about. Every Christmas, the city of Austin puts up a 155 foot tall tree made from over 3,300 lights. Prior to the economy crash, Austin also hosted the Trail of Lights. Different businesses around Austin would sponsor spots along the trail of lights and pimp them out with lights, music, themes, etc. It was awesome! I am sad to see it go. Now the city just puts up the tree and vendors set up on the perimeter.

I turned off my flash and cranked up the ISO on my DSLR to capture the lights from the tree and my camera couldn't seem to focus my hubby. Help anyone??
We waited in line for Ernie to sit on Santa's lap and he was so cold! We put him in his striped Christmas jammies (I had to cut off the legs because they were too tight) but he was still shivering so we put my scarf on his head.
The kids LOVED Ernie! I think he'll make a great big brother one day because he doesn't seem to mind when kids pull and tug on him.
He was so good for Santa! People were laughing because they wanted to pick him up and he is a LOT heavier than he looks.
Someone asked us if Ernie was a French poodle?? Hmm I can't seem to put that one together.
We met up with one of my girlfriends from church and her sweet pup, Peanut. I love him because he is so tiny and easy to pick up (unlike Ernie).
Get ready to say AWWW because you are gonna see some cute as heck pictures. We ran into a woman who had a tiny, tiny brindle Frenchie in her hands! I couldn't believe she had him already because he was so little and young! We got Ernie at 3 months and he was 8lbs with perked ears, this little guy was probably 2lbs with floppy ears. I wanted to cry he was so cute! It was literally Ernie a year ago! The looked so similar, yet WAY different sizes. Ernie was funny when they put the little guy next to him. We think he knew it was a baby and that he needed to be gentle.
Ernie's face cracks me up...
Ernie was quite a little ham at the park. Frenchies aren't too popular so people love coming up to him. The girls at Spirit 105.9 loved him and were taking pictures of him with their promo stickers on his shirt. Jon ended up carrying Ernie inside his jacket at the end of the night because he was so tired and cold. We drove around some of the funky Austin neighborhoods to look at Christmas lights (thank God for seat heaters!).
So tell me, are there any fun festivals or events during the holidays in your hometown?? And if you are a fur mama, are you the crazy lady (like me) who takes her pup to see Santa?

Aww. So cute. He's precious.
So darn cute. I want a puppy NOW! But we have to wait until spring. M wants our pup to get used to the ocean and not be afraid of it lol.
The grooming barn by my house had Santa there for a week to take pics with. I wanted to see if they'd let me bring my daughter and get her and my American bulldog in the pic but I completely forgot :(
I used to live in Austin, and I miss the tree!! Glad you posted a pic so I could "see" it this year. In Houston we have "Lights in the Heights" and driving around River Oaks to check out the gorgeous homes all decked out is a must!
OMG, how is Jon holding that beast of a Great Dane? Ernie actually was probably a blessing to Santa versus the screaming kids. Team Ernie!
I used to love the Trail of Lights at Zilker! We usually go to the Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens in Galveston now.
Did you go under the big tree and spin around? for some reason we did this in college.
my husband took me on our first "I like you" date to the trail of lights. BUT I called it trail of tears because I had to pee the whole time and there were NO bathrooms. And it was a crazy 20 degrees in AUSTIN!
I hope you had fun :)
and yes, I would take cooper ANYWHERE to have his picture taken with santa, though he may not like him.

SUZE

I do take my fur baby to see Santa. Although he is terrified of Santa, we still go every year. Glad I'm not the only one who does. My co-workers had a good laugh when I told them we were going to visit Santa. oh well. Great photos! Great post!
