Ink

The past couple of days I've seen many bloggers share their tattoos and I am finally opening up to share mine. I told another blogger I had 3 and she said that was really surprising! I love them all for different reasons and love that they are unique

#1

I got this elephant a few weeks after turning 18 and I will forever be obsessed with it. Why elephants? I collect them in a total non-creepy/circus way. I've even gotten to ride one in Thailand! They are such beautiful, peaceful creatures. And they also bring goodluck when their trunks are up. I've always said I want to get a baby elephant added on for each child we have, trunks and tails intertwined.

#2

I got this one freshman year of college and I am the most self conscious about it, yet it is the most meaningful. Thy symbol is the Aramaic words for Peace and Love. Aramaic was the language spoken by Jesus, the movie The Passion of The Christ was spoken in Aramaic. I have been carrying around a drawing of peace and love in my wallet since I was 14 years old. So the reason I am self conscious about it is because it is really big. It is probably 6 inches long and 4 inches tall. I originally wanted something very small but you know how tattoo artists can be. I do not regret it one bit because my love for Jesus Christ will always be right under my beating heart, but I do wish it was smaller. A lot smaller. It is on the left side of my ribcage (I took the picture into a mirror).

#3

Have you heard this Aqualung song? The lyrics to this song totally embodies the feelings my husband and I had when we first met. It is very special to us and will always remind us of each other and falling in love. I got this one my senior year of college and I love it so much. It is on the inside of my left foot (it was the most painful!).

So do I plan on getting more?
I do plan on adding to the elephant on my foot when we have babies (like I mentioned above) but other than that, I don't think so. I like how mine are all hidden and I've kinda run out of spots to hide more. I always thought it would be cool to get a tattoo with my husband but I love that he doesn't have any.

I think tattoos are so beautiful! Our old neighbor (LauraLeigh if you are reading this, it is you!) had beautiful sleeves and I instantly fell in love with them. I love how meaningful they can be and how you can tell so much about someone by their ink. I know I was young when I got my tattoos (and I am still young!) but I know I will never regret them. On the other hand, something I do regret is getting my darn belly button pierced when I was 14. I took it out in college and the hole will be there forever! I also had my nose pierced for a few months, luckily that closed up almost instantly :-)

Do you have tattoos? Or do you plan on getting them?

Well, my sweet little Ruthie is a bad girl...lol. I love Tattoos if they tell a story and have meaning. If you tattoo your whole body to make yourself look like a kitty cat, well, yuck. I have my son's name on the inside of my ankle. I wanted a tattoo for years, but couldn't commit to anything. As soon as I had him I knew that's what I wanted. I want one more. I want the word "believe" on the inside of my wrist. It's the one word that I always go to when things are not quite the way they should be. You have to "believe" in the power that all will be right in the world. My husby is a walking coloring book. He loves them.

I like yours because they are unusual and meaningful. If I ever got one, it would be meaningful like that, and not for just gaining attention. It would also be nice if it didnt have to show unless I wanted it to. :P Yeeees, I'm a bit of a prude ...

Thanks for sharing with us!

I have to admit that I am a little suprised you have tattoos. I like them though and that each one has a meaning to you. I don't have any because I am way too indecisive. ha ha Thanks for sharing.

LOVE the tats! It's so fun seeing what everyone has and hearing the meaning! I LOVE the elephant tattoo! SO cute! I also have a cross on my hip...I didn't share that one bcs my parents don't know about it and were less than thrilled with the one on my foot, so I just keep the hip tattoo to myself.

I like how simple your tattoes are. I'm not a fan of them most of the time because so many people get big gaudy colorful ones. But your's are all very thoughtful and cute!

I have a super low pain tolerance so tattoos are not in my future. Besides, I would have a really hard time coming up with one that I know would stay there forever lol
But yours do look good on you. And I love that aqualung song!!
I do admit that I have been wanting a nose piercing. Hahah I feel like my nose is pretty big and adding a small little jewel would be cute, but I'm scared of it being painful.

You know? I'm surprised and I'm not. I love your tattoos. And that Aqualung song is amazing :) I like that your tattoos are really tasteful, but that makes sense from knowing you. I'm terrified of needles, and also unsure of what I would get, if I ever got something... But I highly doubt I will.

I'm a really conservative girl and I have a tattoo on the top of my foot. It's a fish with a cross through the tail. I love it too. And I would LOVE to get more...I just have to convince my hubby : )

I love love love your first tattoo! Next to dogs of course, elephants are my favorite animals. There is just something very special about them.

I have one tattoo of a butterfly on my lower abdomen. I got it over 3 years ago and it holds a very special meaning to me. For my next tattoo I am getting my dog's foot print!

Brighter Than Sunshine is one of my favorite songs! It's from that movie with Ashton Kutcher (can't remember the name). I think your tattoos are cute! I don't have any, but i love seeing them on others and hearing the stories behind them.

Love them! All of them!! I have three as well [or some say 4 - though I think of my ankle wings as a set]. Each have a different meaning that is most meaningful to me. I cannot wait for my collection to grow!

I love them Ruthie! I have 5 and regret 3 of them. :( I want a couple more and have them planned but they have meaning.

I love all three of yours! Especially the elephant one!

I want to get one that has Phillipians 4:6 on it, or at least the part that says Worry about Nothing and Pray about Everything.

I love the idea of the baby elephants. SOCUTE.

I personally don't have any and never plan on getting any. Personal beliefs and such, but also, I could NEVER decide on one thing to have forever. Girl, deciding on lunch is a problem for me. ;)

Cute! Not gonna lie took me a while to figure out where the elephant was. lol. I got my belly button pierced when I was 22...I just took it out right after our wedding and that silly hole is still there.

Very cool tattoos Ruthie! I don't have any and don't really have any plans to get one. Not because I don't like them, just because knowing me, I'd change my mind :)

I, too, pierced my nose in college. I was freshman and came home for Thanksgiving and my mom caused the biggest scene you have ever seen (crying in the bathroom, yelling, drama drama in front of our entire family). You would have thought I tattooed a wiener on my forehead. I stood my ground and kept it in for almost 5 years, right up until our wedding. I took it out, on my own, weeks before I walked down the isle.

I can't say I really miss it. I just isn't me anymore.

I don't have any tattoos. Never will. I could never decide on something I would want on my body forever.

My husband has 4 now and would love to get more. I did a blog post on his latest: http://www.mjanegarrett.blogspot.com/2011/12/122111.html

I love that they are all so meaningful! :) I love the idea of adding on with baby elephants...that is the cutest thing I've ever heard! :)

What part of you body is the elephant on? I can't for the life of me figure it out haha. I LOVE LOVE the lyrics on your foot! My friend's husband got her name written across the back of his heel (his achille's heel) because she is his weakness. Awwwww right?

I had no idea you had any either! I LOVE all of them!!!

Love all 3!! The elephant is so cute!

I'd have to agree with the general statement that I would have NOT pegged you for someone to have a tattoo let alone THREE!!! :) Auqalung what a great song! I haven't heard that song in a while! :)
My mister and I are both tattoo free. Although I think they are pretty, I kinda like my body plain! :) I had my cartilage pierced since I was 17 and just recently took it out to close PERMANENTLY for the first time a month ago. I'm afraid that over time I would feel the same way about a tattoo--want it gone after a period of time! :)

I think the elephant thing is very unique and probably the best tattoo that totally represents YOU and the mini "me"s to come!! :)

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE all of your tattoos!! So different & original. I have 2 but I can't post them bc my parents don't know??

How sad. I'm 25.
