Dedication

This past weekend, Jon and I had the honor of dedicating our niece and God daughter, Embry Suzanne. This was a very important and special day for our family because as a whole, we were dedicating Embry's life to the Lord's will and promising to raise her according to His word. We spent hours researching, praying, and preparing, and Jon gave the most beautiful talk about the important and beauty of God's providence in Embry's 8 months thus far. What a joyous thing to promise the Lord to nurture, teach, and walk with this child on her walk with Jesus.

As I prayed over this little girl, I was reminded of 3 John 1:4, I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. I think about how much joy Embry has brought her own mother and father and so many more in her short life, yet she brings her heavenly Father an un measurable amount a joy. A joy more fulfilling, everlasting, and greater. Isn't that amazing?! Day after day, sin after sin, we choose ourselves over the Lord yet he continues to love, pursue, and cherish us. He sees so much depth and worth in our daily lives. I sit here feeling my son move around inside of me and think about the joy he has brought my life and my marriage and he isn't even born. And he brings our God such greater joy.

As Jon and I prepare for the birth of our son, we pray that the Lord equips us with the tools needed to nurture our son towards Christ, to teach Him about Jesus, and set an example of a faith based marriage. God has big plans for this little baby and I am blessed beyond belief that He chose us to be a part of the story He is writing.

how special that her gown was made from your mother's wedding dress!! Our son Sawyer wore a little white outfit that his daddy wore home from the hospital (his daddy was a giant newborn haha). I love dedications and the ceremony of proclaiming your dedication to raise your children in the light of the Lord.
