Please give a warm welcome to my husband in his blog post debut!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone! Some of you may know me from the occasional vlog post (here & here) or numerous incriminating photos which my wife has so graciously shared with you. I am Jon Hart -- the larger half of Ruthie Hart. This week, my little blog-master asked me to write a guest post about what it's like to live with her. I'm still hoping this isn't just a tricky way for her to find out what I would say about her, but even if it is, I'm going to run with it.
This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone -- my wife is awesome. Therefore, living with her is a pretty easy job. I get to enjoy all of the things that keeps you blog-followers coming back day after day, every day of my life. For starters -- the food! As much as you folks like to read up on her latest recipes, I like to eat her recipes even more. I probably owe some thanks to you for keeping her active in finding new and tasty recipes all the time, so keep reading and I'll keep eating.
Besides all of the great eats, Ruthie also keeps such a great house. Things are always neatly organized and well-decorated, which I think most guys would take for granted, but not me. I know how much I would avoid doing all of the little things around the house that she loves to do, which makes me appreciate it even more. I've never heard of someone who has so much fun ORGANIZING. The process of filing papers, putting similar items in labeled bins (costumes, crafts, office supplies, toiletries, etc) -- everything has it's place, and nobody could have enjoyed putting those things in those places more than she did.
One thing that some of you may not know about my wife is that she is a total morning person. She pops out of bed every morning, ready to embrace the day. I am the exact opposite of that. I am a night person and find it much easier to stay up until all hours than wake up early. Because of this, Ruthie typically falls asleep before me and keeps me entertained with her random dreams and sleep-talking. Yep... sleep-talking. Because this is far more interesting (and much funnier) than how much I like to eat her recipes, I will spend much more time telling you about it.
I first realize she's asleep when she starts twitching -- hands, feet, body, you name it. After that, it's just a matter of time before she's dreaming about something important enough to wake her up or "tell me" about. Most of the time, it's complete nonsense and random mumbling that always has me giggling. I wish I would have written down some of my favorites, but they never make any sense so I have trouble remembering them. She might say something like, "oh I left my sandwich on the roof", to which I would then reply, "girlie why were you on the roof with a sandwich?" She may mumble a few words, and then start to realize none of it made any sense and just go back to sleep. She is rather famous amongst friends and family for waking up frantically because of seeing a spider in the bed. This has happened to me a number of times even in just the several months we've been married. I typically have to get out of bed and turn the light on to prove there is no spider, then ask her how she could have known there was a spider when it was pitch black in the room? My guess would be that there are plenty of good stories that I've missed out on because I'm such a sound sleeper, but nevertheless, she keeps me plenty entertained.
More importantly than the cooking, keeping a great house, and being a silly sleeper, I love living with Ruthie because we just have a blast together. We are always having fun, regardless of whether we're really trying to or not. Of course our numerous theme parties and friendly hang-outs are a lot of fun, but even if we're just sitting at home cuddled up on the couch, we always find ourselves laughing and thoroughly entertained. We keep a great mix of being out and about, but also being home-bodies watching lots of HGTV and a select few reality TV shows. I'm always looking forward to our movie nights together. Even if one of us picks a bad movie, we end up laughing at it together by the end. Ruthie is the best wife and roommate a guy could ever ask for and I'm so blessed to get to spend the rest of my life with her.

So there you have it...what it's like to live with an sleep talking, way too happy in the mornings, organizational freak :-). Thank you for writing this Jon! I laughed. I cried. And now I know you don't think I am all that crazy for labeling bins for my tampons and birth control.
Oh and yes, I have a weird thing about spiders at night. I could have sworn there was a spider at the end of our bed. A giant, 3 foot, hairy spider...
And one of the best grossest sleep talking incidents was in college with my roomie Alyssa. We were getting our beauty sleep and I all of the sudden shot up and said "oh! I thought you were a moist corpse!". Disgusting right? What the heck was I dreaming about?! I also sleep walk which is creepy too.
Question time!
What would your husband//roommate//sibling//parent say about living with you?? Do you leave crusty dishes in the sink for days? Do you forget to do laundry for weeks at a time? Or are you Martha Stewart in the kitchen??

Oh Ruthie! This made my heart happy. I think you and Jon would be our BFF's in real life. I love the love he has for you. And I love your organization habits... you really a girl after my own heart ;) haha!!! So precious. xo
You guys are adorable!!
Well done, Jon. I found the organizational part to be HOTT. Can't wait for our next HGTV couples night.
Oh my gosh this is the first time I've read your blog and I love it! That is so cute that your husband wrote those things :). I can't wait to start reading more!!
you are not alone in the sleep talking world. my husband has stories and stories and stories...and for that reason, he will never guest post on my blog.
here's a good sleep story: i once woke up and tried to fit him for a bra (i worked at victoria's secret in college) and was getting pissed because he wouldn't lift his arms and work with me!!
this is so cute! i twitch when i start to fall asleep too! i don't think i sleep walk anymore...
HAHA! Ok sleep talking runs in the fam then! I sat up the other night at Tyler's and said "I have great focus"...a week before that I said, "Babe, where are we going to put the polka-dot chair?". He thinks I'm cray cray so I am glad I am not alone here! The spider thing is QUITE funny and the "moist" (your favorite word, I know) corpse is GROSS!!
So cute of Jon to do this, what a great man for noticing how well you keep house. HEHE.
XOXO
This is precious!

Ruthie! This was so cute to read - your husband is so sweet! I loved learning more about you through the eyes of your husband! (I like this guest-post idea, but it's taking my Hubs a little longer to agree to it...says there is so much "pressure" - pffhhhtt!)
I laughed so hard about the spider dreams, because I have had those too! And I talk in my sleep, too (well, if I am being honest, I actually curse in my dreams...which is odd, because it is not something I do in real life...often)! :)
I loved this post---from your Hubs' point of view---and how he is not afraid to express to your blog fans just how much he adores you! :)
Hope you are having a beautiful week, friend! xo
Bahaha! I love this post! Great job Jon!

Hysterical! My friend's husband talks in his sleep but he never believes her when she tells him what he said. So she writes his most insane quotes on a post it note and puts it on the bathroom mirror for him to see the next morning....sandwich on the roof! LOL Great job Jon :)
