My birthin' day

Thank you all for the birthday wishes Friday and into the weekend...I am giving you all a big virtual hug right now! Remember you have until today at 12p CST to enter my birthday giveaway! I thought last year would be hard to top but 23 has started off to be amazing :-). The festivities started out Thursday night when Jon insisted on giving me a small gift....

(Jon's current nickname for me is 'smoochie' and I've always called him Big Mister and Ernie is the Little Mister)

Inside the card was a memory card. Or that's what I thought it was. The plan was to go to lunch on Friday and then go buy my new camera (my mom ended up finding our camera in a package deal at Costco for $100 less than anywhere we'd seen) so I was confused. I asked Jon, "wait I thought the camera package came with a memory card, what is this?". And he was like "oh duh I forgot something!" and went to the man cave. He came back carrying a big ole' wrapped box...

After lots of research and test shooting, we bought the Canon EOS 60D with the 18-200mm lens. I am in LOVE. This is my first DSLR camera and I am blown away by the quality of the images. Get ready for some kick ace pictures on the blog (speaking of that, I need to find a cute squishy baby to practice taking pictures of...Ernie looks the same in all his pictures haha).

We cooked a yummy dinner, played around with my camera and Jon said he had one more surprise for me. If you follow me on twitter you'd know that we are obsessed with Yogurtland Froyo. We literally pass at least 3 froyo places on the drive to YL but it is worth it. So...froyo obsession has now shifted to Ben & Jerrys

I worked from home on Friday (my actual birthday) and was treated to a delicious breakfast of pumpkin French toast and scrambled eggs.

Oh and I almost forgot to show my birthday present from Mr. Ernie

(our 5th Tervis Tumbler!! If you've never heard of them, grab a Bed Bath and Beyond coupon and go NOW! My grandparents have used them for years, my parents always use them and now Jon and I are starting our collection)

Unfortunately when you are an adult, you have this pesky thing called work that gets in the way of birthdays. Jon had a lot going on and spent most of the day on con calls in the man cave. I got to work and simultaneously catch up on Ellen, Private Practice and 19 kids and counting...perfect right? We a yummy lunch from Qdoba (like Chipotle but BETTER!) and hit the gym after work. Oh and my parents and brother came by to drop off their pup for the weekend (they went to the Auburn/Florida game to see our family friend, Philip Lutzenkirchen play! War eagle!).

That evening we went to Maggiano's with two of my best friends and their hubbies. I'd never been to Maggiano's but holy buckets. We left with literally 10lbs of to-go food. We did the "meal for 2" which was $40 and included an appetizer (calamari), 2 entrees, a dessert and 2 MORE ENTREES TO TAKE HOME. Needless to say, we have been eating delicious Italian food for breakfast. It was seriously such a fun dinner.

(pumpkin cheesecake)

Leah made me an adorable cookie bouquet and gave me some must have baking gear (since I have been living in the baking stone ages). You have to go check out her blog NOW!

And look at this to die for necklace Mary ordered for me. I can't wait to wear this puppy (muhahahaha)

The evening ended at a fun bar (not downtown, thank God) called Sherlocks. Jon knows how much I have been wanting to see an 80s cover band and guess who was playing?! An 80s cover band! It was seriously a BLAST! Even though I was a wee one in the 80s, I can still appreciate the awesome and awesomely bad music. I even ran into some high school friends (hi Katy, Ashlee & Allison!) and teachers haha. I didn't want to bring in my 20lb camera so this is the only shot I got inside, thanks to Justin.

Don't stop. Believin'.

Saturday was one of the best days of my life. Want to know why? We woke up at 10a, ate some leftover pasta and proceeded to stay in our PJs all day. The only time I left the house was to take the pups for a walk. We watched some murder mystery shows, some House Hunters, ate pasta again, made pumpkin cookies, ate more pasta, finished off the ice cream. Holy smokes I need to have more days like that. What's crazy is we ended up staying up until 1am which is unlike us for a night at home.

Since I was a lazy ass on Saturday, I woke up Sunday refreshed and ready to be productive. We went to early church (which by the way was so beautiful. Pastor John talked about 'what's the big deal with prayer?'. Prayer is what brought my husband and me together. It works). We went to the gym, grabbed gyros for lunch and did some stuff around the house. Me= crafts and a vlog for tomorrow, Jon=Fantasy Football.

Again, I cannot thank my family and friends (blog friends included!) for making me feel so special on my birthday. I received so many thoughtful messages and gifts, this birthday will be hard to top.

What did you guys do this weekend??

Yay, such a fun night! I'm glad we didn't do a close-up of the cookies. They look much better at this distance (like a Monet). We've managed to polish off our leftovers from Friday's dinner and have the other 2 dinners in the freezer. SO MUCH FOOD.

Glad to hear you had such a great birthday celebration! I hate when people take the "its just another day" attitude. Life is to be celebrated! So Happy Happy Belated Birthday my dear ;)
