Instagram & Gifts

Once again, thank you for all the sweet and heartfelt comments on yesterday's post about our anniversary! It was perfect in every way...I wish we could have spent a week celebrating! Since yesterday was a picture overload, I didn't want to bore you with my iPhone pics...so that is what I am going to do today! I am also sharing the gifts we got each other :-)

Mimosas & Mexican food

The view from our hotel room in the beautiful Austin Hill Country

Friday night we were getting excited so we decided to give each other 1 anniversary gift a little early. My first gift to Jon was two magazine subscriptions (remember, traditionally you are supposed to give paper for your 1st wedding anniversary) and he chose Men's Health and a car magazine. Jon was almost giddy giving me my gift...

HOW CUTE IS THAT?!?!?

Sorry ladies but this creative, crafty man is all mine! He read on my blog that traditionally you were to give paper but the modern gift was a clock. So what did he do? Make me a clock with paper! He used the Toon Paint app for the background and ended up taking apart the whole clock to attach it (being an engineer comes in handy, eh?). I can't stop smiling when I see it hanging on our wall, I love it! He is so thoughtful! He said he would start taking orders soon ;-)

Saturday night we decided to do another gift.

Our cards...
(mine is homemade on the left)

Jon got me the most amazing book. It is a study book that will guide us through reading the bible over the next year. We have been wanting to do this for quite sometime and I am so happy he got this for us! We started it last night. There are 3 different acts that they break up the bible into and there are study questions and helpful hints. There is even a timeline where you fill in key people and key events in the Scripture. We are so excited to go on this journey together and see what the Lord has to teach us.

So unfortunately you will not see a picture of my gift to Jon. My gift is for my hubby's eyes only. I mustered up the courage to get boudoir photos taken in December and had a leather bound photobook made for him. It was one of the most romantic things I've done and I love them! And so does Jon hehe. He was so surprised and just kept smiling and telling me how excited he was. I have been so anxious and giggly about giving the book to him, it was a miracle I kept it in! The actual shoot was so cool and I loved it! For those of you interested, our wedding photographer's very talented wife, Nina, took my photos (find her photography blog here and personal blog here). She made me feel so beautiful and comfortable!

Jon looking at the photos
:-) I am so happy I did them!

I just had to take a picture of Jon's outfit

Our 1 year old cake topper was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Jon was meticulously refrosting the cake after a year in a plastic tupperware and it turned out really pretty. We have been eating it for the past couple of days haha.

We went to a local Austin steakhouse on Sunday and Jon looked like a cute little Harvard prep student with his sweater. I was loving it haha.

(one symptom of heartburn must be pale white vampire skin haha)

Jon ordered a 30oz Porterhouse...this picture doesn't do it justice. It was bigger than my head

We've been wearing these for 1 whole year!

Thank you all for making us feel so loved on our special day!

Love all of your gifts! Happy anniversary friend!

Am I dumb? I'm guessing boudoir photos are either naked or lingerie or something, but I don't really know. Enlighten me please! Either way, your hubby looked dang excited about them!! :)

What a great idea to give a bound book with boudoir photos in them. How appropriate for an anniversary present! I've been tempted to do one of those shoots, but never quite felt hot enough!

Ooo la la!
Considering I have like no boobs (small) ha I've kinda would feel uncomfortable about the boudir shoot. But I am wondering the same with the rest of the ladies, was it fun? Awkward? Lol I would so do it with a lady photographer only haha

Yay for engineer hubbies. :-) mine is an engineer too.

Please tell me he didn't eat that steak in one sitting.

I love the card you made for him. :-) oh and that bible study book sounds awesome!!!

So did you finally explain to him how you got those extra photos and why he had to hang out with Justin that day? :)

What a perfect anniversary! I love his facial expression looking through the boudoir book you made for him. Maybe one day I'll do a book for M. He didn't know what the photos were, so I was showing him examples on Pinterest, and he did not seem enthuse...but I'm hoping his reaction would be different if it was me lol.

Boudior photos are the best!! I used to get them done for Ben whenever he was deployed. And I'm so glad I did them a few times before I had a baby!! Now I look back at them and wish I could have that body back!!

Sounds like you two had a wonderful anniversary. That bible study book sounds really cool. What a man!! Congrats again :)
