You may be shocked to find this post is not a sappy love post about Valentine's Day! Okay it may be a sappy love post but this post is dedicated to my first born chunk of a furbaby...Ernie. When I first found out I was going to be in California for a trade show on Valentine's Day, I didn't get sad that I would have to miss the Hallmark holiday of overpriced roses, cheesy cards and fugly stuffed animals. I was sad that I would miss our Ernie-versary. 1 year ago today, Jon and I drove 3 hours to Keller, TX to pick up this guy
(my first picture with Ernie)
Don't get me wrong...I miss my husband every single time we are apart whether it is for work or whatever but why does there have to be only 1 day a year to celebrate your love? We can be mushy gooshy the other 364 (well 365 this year) days of the year. Jon and I actually celebrated "V-day" on Sunday.
So here is the mushy part. I cannot imagine my life with out little Ernie. Seriously he brings so much joy into my life that I never knew was possible. I always tell Jon, "Gosh if I love Ernie this much, can you imagine what it will be like with babies?" But then I get to thinking. It is a different kind of love. I know I will be head over heels for my babies and love them with every ounce of me but one thing I love about Ernie is that I will always be his #1. He will never talk back, he will never choose his friends over me, and he will ALWAYS want to cuddle with his mommy. I think that is pretty darn cool. Seeing his big old head and buggy eyes when I get home from work is priceless. There is never a day where he isn't fired up to see me, tackle me and give me kisses.
(on the drive home from the breeder)
Having a puppy was hard at times. No one tells you they wake up every 3 hours to potty and cry at night but it was so worth it. At times I thought we were crazy for getting a puppy 2 days after returning from our honeymoon. Ernie is so well behaved and has such a funny personality. He is quite the little ham and a little charmer.
We love you Mr. Piggy!

Happy Valentine's Day to all you mush pots...and to my sweetie pie hubby!

I want to squish that little cutie patutie of a man for you! I can't believe it's been a year since you picked him up! Guess what?!?!
M and I are going to start contacting breeders this weekend. WOOHOO!
Such a cute post! Ernie is so handsome. I feel the same way about my pup. Couldn't have said it better.
"my first born chunk of a furbaby...Ernie" hahahaha... that made me smile Ruthie. You KNOW I understand how you feel about Ernie, because I feel the exact same way about MY babies.
Happy day of love to you and your wonderful little family! :)
My husband is gone today but we have 3 dogs (one is a puppy) who are excellent cuddlers and so today is for spending lots of good play time with them.
It is a little crazy how much I love these dogs. Our first two have been with me through many deployments and always made it better. Our new baby monster is doing quite well at being all loveable and clown like so she fits right in!
Yay for doggies :)
Happy birthday to Ernie!!!
Ernie is such a lil cutie!
Happy Valentine's Day!
Aww, Happy Ernie-versary! It's funny I tell Brandon all the time that I can't imagine how loving kids will feel if I love Lucy as much as I do. But you're right - something about a dog's love is unconditional. They love you no matter what, and their whole little existence revolves around you. xoxo
Happy Valentine's Day!
This is so cute!!! I agree - being a puppy mom is a special thing!!! Happy ernie-versary!!!
Aww this is so sweet! (and exactly what my post for tomorrow is about actually!) My hubby and I were just talking this weekend about how we can't even comprehend how we could possibly love our future babies more than our dog Lola because we just love her SO stinkin' much! A dog really makes a house a home and I don't know what we'd do without her! Happy Valentine's Day to you, your hubby, & Ernie! Xoxo
Literally tearing up right now. I feel the EXACT same way about Bailey. I love her so much it seriously hurts me inside.
How cute :) Happy Ernie-versary! I love the point about poochies not talking back or choosing there friends over you. So true and such a blessing doggies are!
This post made me smile! Your dog is simply adorable. Happy ernie-versary!
I love it! You echo my feelings about my pup exactly! Dogs are just the best :)
This might actually be the sweetes Valentines Day post yet.
Happy Ernie-versary.
Happy Valentines Day.

True love. I hope I get to meet this chunk some day. I also hate this post cause it just brings back up how much I want a dog!!! Ill live vicariously through you and Mr. ERNIE.
I LLLOOOVVVEEE Ernie!!!!!! xoxoxo He is so sweet! And he is so lucky to have fur parents like y'all!!!
Happy V-day my love!
Aw so cute! I can't wait til we get a dog. We're waiting til after our honeymoon so he/she doesn't have to be put in a kennel so soon. Pets bring so much joy that you really can't understand until you experience it....hence why there's so many posts involving my cat on my blog haha ;)
I cannot believe you got Ernie in Keller! That's my hometown! What a small world!
There really is nothing like a fur baby! Your doggy looks so sweet :)
Petversaries are the best! There is nothing like the love of a pet. :)
Ernie seems like the cutest, laziest (in a relaxed way) dog I've ever seen! I enjoy his bat-ears. Did him and Peanut get along while you were pet-sitting? I assumed you would have had him much longer than only a year, but it makes sense when you've been married the same amount of time.
Yay, happy Ernieversary! There is nothing like puppy love.
Your face in these pictures say it all. I heart Ernie and Ruthie Hart!
I am so not a pet person, but this was so sweet. It ALMOST made me want to get a dog! :)
