Today you can find me guest postin' for Jen at The Arizona Russums. I am sharing why Jon and I chose to tithe :-)
I feel so grown up writing this but we are the proud owners of a fancy pants formal dining room set!! We are moving in about 4 weeks and have been on the lookout for a dining room table/chairs and a few other pieces. Over the past 2 years, Jon and I have acquired some random furniture. We are total Craigslisters and have scored awesome deals ($10 couch and $50 kitchen table and chairs), we are so not above second hand! The thing about CL is you have to search and search and search and sometimes the inventory sucks.
So we have been to tons of stores around Austin and fell in love with a few pieces at World Market. We were there last week and ended up staying for about 45 minutes laying out our paint swatches and sitting in every chair. Here is what we bought..eeekkk....
It is so beautiful and massive (two leafs so we can add more chairs if needed). We didn't want our furniture to look cookie cutter so we bought 2 different types of chairs. Jon picked out these armchairs for the 2 heads of the table. They look so old school baller.
And these 4 beauties are my babies....
I am kind of obsessed with the fabric and the nail heads.
We had originally planned on putting in a brick wall in the dining room (we found a website where you can buy salvaged bricks from NYC lofts...so cool!) but it looks like it would clash. The new plan is to do a chevron wall and I am pretty sure I lose sleep over thinking about how cool it will be! I am thinking gray walls will work but I'd love to get your opinion. We want to stay away from browns and are gravitating towards grays, blues, and greens. What do you think? (Luckily they let us pay for it now and get a rain check so we don't have to store all of this in our little house right now.)
I also wanted to share a picture of our dinner last night. Jon makes fun of me for word associations (certain words make me think of the most random things) and sometimes, making up words. A couple weeks ago I asked Jon what pasta fioli was. I don't know what made me think of it but I felt like I had heard it before but never knew what it was. And I kept asking and he finally said, girlie, I think you made that up! There is no such thing! So last night I was on a mission to make up whatever pasta fioli was... and here I present to you...pasta fioli...
(Italian style tomatoes, onions, 1 cup pasta sauce, garlic cloves, whole wheat penne pasta, & goat cheese)
So give me decorating ideas yawwwlll. And have a good weekend!

I absolutely love it!!! Seriously! I love when people don't do a matchy matchy set!! :) And when they use color!! I think a gray wall would look amazing with that! I can't wait to see what it'll look like in your new house!
i am in love with that table and those chairs. i am a big fan of mismatching prints that still match!

Wow. Your house is going to look SO good... and you're totally getting me excited for moving out of an apartment! I'm super jealous! And PS- I think you're thinking of Pasta Fagioli... which is an Italian soup!
world market gets me in LOTS of trouble. Those chairs are AMAZING, especially the yellow ones.
Those chairs are INCREDIBLE!
I'm so jealous that you have grown up furniture! We still have mostly hand-me downs, but have no idea where we'll end up next, so it seems pointless to buy!
Have fun decorating - looks like you'll do great!
i am absolutely obsessed with both your chair selections!!!
I'm so jealous of your table and chairs!
Those chairs are beautiful! I'm with you on the green and gray. I see a green wall or design. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
Hi, i just found your blog! I am in love with that table and the yellow chair! They are so cool. I love the whole brick look too. As for the walls, I am thinking gray is perfect, because you can do tons of color in decorating.
Love you new set, will look beautiful!
hi! i am a new "follower!" just found your blog and that table is GORGEOUS! Similar story here- we bought our house TWO years ago (shameless, really) and just a few months ago bought our "grown up" dining room set! I love it almost too much to eat at it! Ha! Cannot wait to see it all set up with those gorgeous chairs! Happy weekend!
Love it Ruthie! Beautiful and massive are the perfect words to describe that table. It has a wonderful presence and will look awesome I'm sure!
Hopping over from Jen's blog. Loved your post about tithing! I'm from Austin too!
You're a grown up now! Kinda... I love the table that you picked out! And I definitely can appreciate the nail heads in the dining room chairs. :) Can't wait until you're all moved in and settled and I can come visit!!
It's ok to get excited about a dining room set :) A lot of my friends are getting married nowadays and getting their own places and this kind of thing has become a normal part of conversation... I'm loving it.
I adore that table and chairs! I can't WAIT to see once you get into the house!!!! It's going to look so amazing i can't even stand it!
i LOVE it!! ALL of it, it's going to look great! I can't wait to actually see it in the house!

I love those chairs, especially the yellow ones :) Too cute!
I read your post and left my comment over there.
Gray walls for sure! If I had it my way most of my walls would be gray! I'm loving those chairs too! Very nice finds!
I think that's the same table at Nat the Fat Rat! (Do you read her blog? It's great!) And I loooove the mismatched chair look!
Love the table and chairs!!

Oh my goodness, if you are not on Pinterest, you need to get on there ASAP. The amount of ideas I've picked up from there are amazing. And you seem to have a bit more drive to take those ideas and make them happen!
