Vegas & life updates

Buenos dias friends. And happy Friday of course. The Friday before Memorial Day that is...3 day weekend that is much needed, especially after my week. I flew to Vegas at 6am on Monday morning for a tradeshow for work (EMC World for those of you curious). This is my 3rd show in 6 months and we go to NYC in 2 weeks for another. If you've ever worked a giant tradeshow, you'd know that I feel like I was run over by a bus (and add Vegas to that!). It was a fun week considering my last 2 shows were in Santa Clara but I am tired.

(anyone else obsessed with Sister Wives?)

Of course I had to leave Vegas with a bang and ended up losing my ID, realizing it 7 hours before my flight was scheduled to leave. We had a table at Lavo and they were ID'ing us when I realized mine was gone. I think this was definitely a God thing because I was lucky to realize it hours before my flight rather than in the security line. I was walked back to my hotel where it was nowhere to be found. I am pretty sure it fell out of my bag when I was excitedly taking a million pictures of Adam Levine...

(I was about to show TSA multiple credit cards and my Costco membership card because it had my picture on it! Thank the lord for Costco)

EMC hosted a Maroon 5 concert on the last night of the show, it was insane. I somehow talked us into the VIP section (the ratio of guys to girls at these things are about 1,000:1) and we were no lie, 10 feet away.

It was an amazing show. I've seen them before and actually met the band in Austin. Does anyone else think Adam Levine is gay? I've had my suspicions and don't think I am alone on this one.

The wonderful thing about going to Vegas for work is the fact that you don't have to pay for anything (making the experience quite different than any other time I've been there). I lost other people's money, drank $25 top shelf drinks, and dined in a private room of Bobby Flay's restaurant. This is the way to do Vegas.

The show was at the Venetian but I stayed at The Mirage

Any freetime was spent by the pool reading Fifty Shades of Grey

The showfloor was open for 3 days which means my feet are about ready to be cut off. You can only smile, talk about your product, and give away free swag for so long before it becomes exhausting/annoying.

I could get used to these for lunch

There was a Kardashian store in the Mirage. You could buy pictures of each Kardashian on sticks...it was so weird

Overall it was a fun trip. I am over Vegas though. 4 days is a lot...Vegas plus a tradeshow. It was a great experience to be there for work but it isn't as fun not traveling with your hubby.

I am so behind on personal stuff, emails, comments, blog reading, etc but this weekend I am unplugging. A weekend getaway to the lakehouse is on our agenda. I would like to thank you all for the comments on my You Only Live Once post. It was awesome to hear many of you in similar situations and following your heart.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Be safe!

Glad you had a great work trip to Vegas! And sorry that you lost your ID, fortunately you realized that it was gone sooner rather than later :)

Sounds like it was a fun work thing! Did you find your ID or did you actually show TSA your Costco card and it worked? That is amazing if so. Some guys I work with say that before all of the security at the airport, they used to be able to walk in the line, show their Oracle badge from work with their name and picture and walk on through. Crazy.

I know exactly what a tradeshow in Vegas is like! In fact, we are headed there again in October. The worst part for me is how bad my feet hurt by the end of the trip!

looks like so much fun! Though I have to say I'm growing extremely jealous of all your Adam encounters. Even if he is gay, I still want him. In the meantime I will live vicariously through you and these photos.
I hope you get some rest this weekend!

Going to Vegas on someone elses dime is the BEST way to do it :) It sounds like you had an amazing time even though you were there for work!

And I used to live a few minutes away from the sister wives family when we both lived in northern Utah! I may or may not have done a drive by past their house....

I've been to Vegas a few times (I think six), and am in the mood for a trip back there. Lately it's all I can think about. So seeing your pictures just get my craving revving up! It does wear you out though, and I can't imagine having to stand on my feet, being nice to people when I was worn out like that. Kudos to you Ruthie!
