This past weekend, Jon and I were in Ohio. Jon grew up in a town Southwest of Cleveland called Medina. Not only did we have a weekend packed of visiting family and friends but Jon was a groomsman in one of his best buddy's wedding! R (as the guys call him) was a groomsman in our wedding and Jon was thrilled to be a part of his wedding.
After almost losing my cookies on our flight in, we arrived close to 11pm on Thursday night. Friday was spent lunching with Jon's papa and hanging out with his grandpa before heading to the rehearsal dinner. I loved getting to meet lots of Jon's highschool friends who were also in the wedding and they made me feel a part of the group. I have been so bad with pictures lately (maybe it's because I know I am getting a new camera for my birthday next week and I hate my current one) and I only got a few pics from Friday.
The guys made fun of me for busting out my camera at the hotel so they posed with the drinking fountain. This is Jon's best friend Jon who was the best man in our wedding. They grew up in Medina together and now Jon lives in Austin too! My Jon (we usually just use last names because it is so confusing) is the best man in Jon's wedding in March!
Jon's groomsman gift...so cool.
The two Jon's and their ladies
Oh I almost forgot to mention the weather. Please note that when we left, my car said it was 102 degrees in Austin. Cleveland, on the other hand, was 40's, rainy, windy and COLD!! I was so dumb not to pack any jeans and ended up with 5 dresses and 1 pair of leggings. Let's just say I was frozen solid and wore the leggings the whole time we were there (even to the wedding under my dress).
Saturday I was invited to the bridal luncheon and loved getting to hang with the bridesmaids (who knew my nerdy husband in high school). It brought me back to getting ready with my bridesmaids for our wedding. It was lots of fun!
The ceremony was originally supposed to be outdoors by a beautiful lake but considering the weather, they moved it indoors. Luckily the bridal party bucked up and got some beautiful outdoor pictures.
Jon and the groom
The bridal party entered into the reception to different Cleveland sports teams songs. Jon came in to the song, "I like to move it move it" carrying a mega phone and a Cleveland Cavs basketball. He is one helluva dancer if you ask me...
The reception was lots of fun...I mean what more do you need than open bar and a little Taio Cruz :-). I think the guests really make or break a wedding. We had a blast dancing almost every song, complete with mardi gra beads that the groomsmen wore during their entrance. Here are more shots of the wedding.
Me with some of the bridesmaids...aren't their dresses gorgeous! My mom actually wore the same dress to our wedding
Holy shininess
The bride and her ladies
Can you see my teeth chattering?
Jon and Jon again. They always talk about how people used to ask them if they were twins!
The bridal party with the Mr. & Mrs.
I absolutely love all the details to a wedding. I love seeing what kind of flowers, cake, lighting, etc brides have chosen. The bride and groom love Disney so they had a few Disney touches to the reception
Me and the hubs (I almost had a Nancy Grace moment right there!)
Jon N's fiance Stephanie was my date for the night and I loved getting to talk with her about the details of her upcoming March wedding (we have 4 weddings in a 1 year span!)
Bride and groom cutting the cake which I must say was delicious!
I am mad at myself for not taking pictures of Jon and his family members but you can't cry over spilled milk. I love getting to see where Jon grew up, looking through old scrapbooks and getting to know his family even more.
After getting approximately 6 hours of sleep each night and going, going, going during the day...we were ready to be home! We left at the ripe hour of 4:30am EST which was 3:30am our time and surprisingly I never hit a wall on Monday. We dove right back into life picking up cute little Ernie and cheering on my brother's football team that night.
I brought back a little souvenir for Mr. Ernie (from Target hehe) but I have to return it :-(. It is made for dogs weighing 16-30lbs and even though Ernie is only 20lb, it barely fits around his neck! That boy is solid muscle.
It was so nice to get away last weekend, even if it was cold and rainy in Cleveland. We both needed it!

Yep, welcome to Ohio where the weather is crappy 60% of the year :) Sorry it was crappy weather but it looks like the wedding was nice and a lot of fun!! If you weren't so busy I would have said to meet up with me, but I was busy too haha :)

Great post! Looks like you guys had a blast at the wedding. LOVE the dress you wore to the wedding.

It looks like a lot of fun, it definitely looks cold there. You must have been so thankful you packed your leggings. You look gorgeous as always. I love the pressie you bought Ernie, bummer you had to return it though!

Looks like fun! So this may sound weird, but has anyone ever told you that you look like Kristen Chenowith, but with dark hair? She's adorable and so are you, but I swear you look just like her!
What a fun time! I'm pretty sure Ohioans (is that right? ha!) have the most fun! The last two times we vacationed to Mexico we met people from Ohio, had the best time, and definitely made lifelong friends.
Looks like you guys had a blast. I LOVE the dress you wore to the wedding. Super cute!
How gorgeous are you? I love all these picture recaps because then I feel like I'm there too (kinda). Also, Ernie's costume is amazing. You should take him trick or treating?
Looks like a beautiful wedding! The pics are awesome. And the pup in the Halloween costume - too cute! My co-worker's dog has that one too!
Stopping by from Ashlyn's blog. Wanted to meet some of the fellow ladies who were featured :)
What a great little getaway! I am used to those hot temperatures too...that kinda sounds nice...cold and rainy! :) The wedding looked fun! :)
I love a good wedding post filled with lots of wedding pictures. :) I am a softie for weddings and love seeing everyone looking all beautiful and dapper - and you all totally delivered!
That is so crazy about the change in temperature; I don't blame you for sporting the leggings all weekend long - I'd have done the same thing. There is nothing worse than being COLD (ok, well, there's a lot worse, but you know what I mean). Cold or not, might I add that you looked stunning? Truly.
Your puppers in his costume...I laughed so hard when I saw that photo. The expression on his face is priceless; kind of like: "Really, Mom?" :-P
Hope you are having a beautiful week!
xo
bwahahaha! oh ernie!
ruthie, you crack me up-- almost had a nancy grace moment? bwahahaha! i almost spit out my coffee!
