Ernie-versary

You may be shocked to find this post is not a sappy love post about Valentine's Day! Okay it may be a sappy love post but this post is dedicated to my first born chunk of a furbaby...Ernie. When I first found out I was going to be in California for a trade show on Valentine's Day, I didn't get sad that I would have to miss the Hallmark holiday of overpriced roses, cheesy cards and fugly stuffed animals. I was sad that I would miss our Ernie-versary. 1 year ago today, Jon and I drove 3 hours to Keller, TX to pick up this guy

(my first picture with Ernie)

Don't get me wrong...I miss my husband every single time we are apart whether it is for work or whatever but why does there have to be only 1 day a year to celebrate your love? We can be mushy gooshy the other 364 (well 365 this year) days of the year. Jon and I actually celebrated "V-day" on Sunday

So here is the mushy part. I cannot imagine my life with out little Ernie. Seriously he brings so much joy into my life that I never knew was possible. I always tell Jon, "Gosh if I love Ernie this much, can you imagine what it will be like with babies?" But then I get to thinking. It is a different kind of love. I know I will be head over heels for my babies and love them with every ounce of me but one thing I love about Ernie is that I will always be his #1. He will never talk back, he will never choose his friends over me, and he will ALWAYS want to cuddle with his mommy. I think that is pretty darn cool. Seeing his big old head and buggy eyes when I get home from work is priceless. There is never a day where he isn't fired up to see me, tackle me and give me kisses.

(on the drive home from the breeder)

Having a puppy was hard at times. No one tells you they wake up every 3 hours to potty and cry at night but it was so worth it. At times I thought we were crazy for getting a puppy 2 days after returning from our honeymoon. Ernie is so well behaved and has such a funny personality. He is quite the little ham and a little charmer.

We love you Mr. Piggy!

Happy Valentine's Day to all you mush pots...and to my sweetie pie hubby!

"my first born chunk of a furbaby...Ernie" hahahaha... that made me smile Ruthie. You KNOW I understand how you feel about Ernie, because I feel the exact same way about MY babies.

Happy day of love to you and your wonderful little family! :)

My husband is gone today but we have 3 dogs (one is a puppy) who are excellent cuddlers and so today is for spending lots of good play time with them.
It is a little crazy how much I love these dogs. Our first two have been with me through many deployments and always made it better. Our new baby monster is doing quite well at being all loveable and clown like so she fits right in!
Yay for doggies :)

Aww, Happy Ernie-versary! It's funny I tell Brandon all the time that I can't imagine how loving kids will feel if I love Lucy as much as I do. But you're right - something about a dog's love is unconditional. They love you no matter what, and their whole little existence revolves around you. xoxo
Happy Valentine's Day!

Aww this is so sweet! (and exactly what my post for tomorrow is about actually!) My hubby and I were just talking this weekend about how we can't even comprehend how we could possibly love our future babies more than our dog Lola because we just love her SO stinkin' much! A dog really makes a house a home and I don't know what we'd do without her! Happy Valentine's Day to you, your hubby, & Ernie! Xoxo

Aw so cute! I can't wait til we get a dog. We're waiting til after our honeymoon so he/she doesn't have to be put in a kennel so soon. Pets bring so much joy that you really can't understand until you experience it....hence why there's so many posts involving my cat on my blog haha ;)

Petversaries are the best! There is nothing like the love of a pet. :)

Ernie seems like the cutest, laziest (in a relaxed way) dog I've ever seen! I enjoy his bat-ears. Did him and Peanut get along while you were pet-sitting? I assumed you would have had him much longer than only a year, but it makes sense when you've been married the same amount of time.
