Friday Randoms

Good morning and happy Friday friends! I want to thank you guys for all the congratulations and well wishes on yesterday's post. I also want to thanks you who gave me encouragement and support when I talked about Jon being the spiritual head of our household. I am so happy that we can be an example of a Christian marriage because that is what we attribute our great relationship to :-)

I mentioned yesterday that Jon is skiing this weekend and I wanted to share a photo he sent me. We were exchanging photos, particularly of the weather because it was snowing in Denver and 88 in Austin.

Yesterday evening I went to my brother's first track meet and it was super exciting watching him win 1st in each of his events! I was very impressed with his hurdle skills (he ran the 300 hurdles)...I don't think I was taller than a hurdle at his age!

I also mentioned yesterday I am shacking up with my parents this weekend to hang with them and family that is coming into town today. I slept in my old room last night too. Our current home doesn't have a ton of extra storage space so I still have some stuff stored at my parents and I am so grateful for that. I decided to go through a couple of boxes and found my old yearbooks and scrapbooks from middle school and high school.

My bff Alyssa and I traveled to Southeast Asia the summer after graduation

My cutie baby brother...with 3 big sisters he was such a prince

I also went through a box that was filled with Jon's dads things. Jon's dad passed away in the summer of 2009 and his stepmom has given us a lot of his things. It's cool because she saved a few gifts Jon gave his dad and I want to put them up when we move. We have his bible that is actually falling apart at the binding that was given to Jon's grandpa then passed down to his dad. It will be neat to pass it down to our son one day. We also have his passport and my favorite picture of my father in law (it is super old but I think Jon looks so much like him).

Jon's dad was a music man...he played the bass and made music with his brothers all the time (we love hearing old stories about his dad being a rocker!). Robbie as a kiddo and Robbie as an adult

Jon's grandpa also gave us a Hart family history/genealogy that dates back to the 1600s. We have been through it a few times but never in depth. Look what I found is a Hart family name..

Ebenezer!!!!! Which happens to be Ernie's middle name!!!!! Hahaha. Jon chose Ernie's middle name because he and his bff have an inside joke about this church in Waco and have a little dance that goes along with this joke. Well now when people ask, I can say it is a family name. Another cool thing is we have had a baby girl name picked out for a long time and after reading this huge book...I found out it is a family name!!!!!!!

So I looked under my old bed to find a huge plastic bin filled with plastic swords, guns, and bats lol. Grandsons are gonna have a blast at their grandparents someday!

Ever since we put in an offer for the house on Monday, I feel like I've been in house nesting mode. I went through our shed and took two big bags of junk to Goodwill and spent 2 hours weeding the backyard. I have memories of my dad making us weed at the lakehouse so it is funny I was actually enjoying this. I would love to do some work in the yard in the new house, plant flowers, and maybe even some things in a garden. I am so lame but I had to take a pic of the weeds I pulled, it is sad how out of control we've let them get.

I tried to sign into my Craigslist account because I really want to sell my Tom Tom GPS and a new iPod we have but for some reason my account is blocked. I don't think I've ever sold anything under this email address on CL so I can't understand why. I tried contacting support but I just get an auto response...anyone have any idea of what I should do? I think I will just have Jon post them if I can't figure it out.

Now for your Ernie fix of the day

My brother's kitty (her name is KD, after Kevin Durant) was taunting the dogs last night. Ernie loves barking at her and chasing her and she bats at him with her paws, it is so cute and funny.

& one last thing....

Tomorrow is my blog-iversary!!! One year ago tomorrow, I started this blog! I never thought I would get so much fulfillment from blogging and make such amazing, true friends. I want to thank all of you for giving me the motivation and encouragement to write everyday. This blog has changed my life and I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for me and my blog! You can find my very first post here (as you can see I got no comments and probably 5 views hehe). Heck I never thought anyone but my family and close friends would be interested in what I have to say. Love you guys!!!!

Have a fabulous weekend!

So happy for you and Jon! Aren't old memories the best when you find them? Have a great weekend! If I ever come to Austin I will bring my sleeping bag to stay at your new house. Oh and that first picture of Ernie made me belly laugh.

Happy Blog-iversary :) That is fabulous! I can't wait to reach the one-year mark... although I have a while.

I love going through boxes and photo albums from years past. It's amazing to see how God has answered prayers and put new/different people in your life.

Have a wonderful weekend. xo

EEEEEEE your blogoversary! And I'm excited for you being in nesting mode! Big things are happening! I think I'm probably going to hang out at my parents' all weekend too. M is going back to Massachusetts to pick up things that he forgot, and I have a road race in the AM, so I can't go with him.

We are a little obsessed with geneology in our house. I have this book that a cousin put together in the 70's that goes back to the 1200s. I'm a direct decedent of Patrick Henry which is pretty awesome. I wasn't interested in it for a long time and always made fun of Ben for doing so much research into his own family, but then I got sucked in :) It's so interesting!
